With support for data transfer rates of up to 3.8 Gbps, the MB8600 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem from Motorola is capable of supporting a variety of bandwidth-intensive tasks such as online gaming, streaming multimedia content and more. Additionally, this Motorola modem supports the DOCSIS 3.1 cable standard along with Active Queue Management (AQM), which is designed to reduce network congestion and speed up online tasks such as page loads, gaming, video conferencing, and more. Setup is easy, and with built-in lightning and power-surge circuits, you have additional protection against power spikes which can harm your modem.
On the back of the MB8600 you will a single Gigabit Ethernet port making it easy to connect this modem to a router, computer, or other Ethernet enabled device. There are also three additional Ethernet ports that are hidden by a yellow cover. These three Ethernet ports are not for connecting multiple devices. The three masked Ethernet ports are for connecting to a router that can bond more than one Ethernet port to achieve speeds up to 1 Gb/s when supported by your cable service.

Love my new modem. Easy to install. Seems to remain cool. Up for about a week. Some of the ports on the back were blocked with a removable plastic tab to avoid confusion. Hopefully I will be somewhat future proofed since it is capable of more than 1000mb per second and is Docsis 3.1.

A bad investment. It failed after a year. XFINITY Comcast no longer supports it. No way to get money back

Easy to connect to ISP, just give them the MAC address. Fully functional. Just connect to router and off you go.

I needed to replace my 6 year old zoom modem with one that had current technology. Total time spent setting up, including talking with my cable internet provider, 15 minutes.

Cable modem was easy to swap out. Download speeds were dramatically increased.

My SB6190 stopped working and with KNOWN problems with that model, rather than buy another one I decided to go with the Motorola MB8600 DOCSIS 3.1 model. It is cheaper than the Arris SB8200 and runs COOLER and where the Arris SB8200 uses the same chip set as the Motorola, I knew I couldn’t go wrong with Motorola

First, thanks to B&H for a great price and super fast shipping. Only used the modem for a couple weeks, but so far it’s worked perfectly. We’re using it with Wow service, and it exceeded our plan’s speed by ~ 5% as tested using speednet. The MB8600 runs cool which was one reason for choosing it. The LEDs have a pleasant intensity, especially compared to the LEDs on our Netgear router. If you need a cable modem and want something to be prepared for the future, this is a great choice.

Has been working fine with good installation instructions included. Much more difficult to get Cox to connect the product. It took three tries to get Cox to connect the modem. That should be easy – they only need the serial number and MAC code – but it isn’t. Comcast seems to be better. That’s the only downside to buying your own modem – but I am saving $8/month!

Was hesitant about buying this modem as it is not on Spectrum’s authorized list and wasn’t sure about activation. Decided to give it a try. I really wanted this modem and didn’t want to wait for Spectrum’s approval. Talked to a rep and he had it activated and I was back on line within ten minutes. After two weeks of use no problems, no resets, working like a charm. Highly recommended.

For several years I tolerated an all in one Netgear N600 cable modem router. The only thing I could count on was dropped connections about every 45 minutes and logged errors for which there were no known fixes. I installed the Motorola cable modem and attached a D-link N750 WiFi router several weeks ago and experienced flawless performance ever since. My advice would be to never purchase all in one cable modem WiFi routers unless you’re buying the most expensive and proven hardware available. Separate devices are the way to go. With DOCSIS 3.1 I thought it was odd that after connecting the modem via Ethernet cable to the separate Wi-Fi router the remaining open ports on modem rejected my attempt to connect a laptop or a second router via Ethernet. The manufacturer responded quickly to my inquiry, stating this is a planned behavior which has something to do with future extreme multi gigabit speeds where you’ll run two Ethernet cables to a single future router in order to handle extreme speeds. Which leads me to believe this modem is less likely to prematurely join my closets collection of outdated electronics.

Purchased to replace a Motorola SB 6121 that had performed perfectly for many years. New modem is considerably larger than the older one, but it runs cool. I haven’t speedtested at this point, but it’s working fine with an Orbi router and satellite.

Connection and activation was quick and straightforward (mostly). Completing the activation did require a phone call to Comcast, but that too was quick and painless. Our internet speed has never been faster or more reliable – downloads are always above 100 Mbps now (slightly better than what we are paying for). Plus, our Linksys router found and connected to it without any intervention. Should have done this sooner.

Boosted my speeds by 400, replaced a model from 2001, quick call to Comcast to add to account

Purchased the Motorola8600 to replace Wave Cables modem and eliminate monthly rental fees. Contacted Wave cable, provided the technician with data from the modem. He confirmed compatibility and found no difficulties with model. Transitioned without any difficulties or delay with in-house networking or between ISP and home. System has been in service for three weeks without hitch. I am a satisfied customer of the product. B&H came through with speedy service and a great product which is their norm.

Replaced the ISP-provided equipment with this modem, and am getting much better speeds

I have Comcast Xfinity High Speed 1GB internet plan. Prior to purchasing Motorola MB8600 DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem, I was getting around 500 Mbps download and 8 Mbps upload with Arris SB6190 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem. After swapping the modem and activating online with the MAC address , I was up and running in about 10 minutes. I’m getting around 800 Mbps download and 17 Mbps upload now.
