With support for data transfer rates of up to 3.8 Gbps, the MB8600 DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem from Motorola is capable of supporting a variety of bandwidth-intensive tasks such as online gaming, streaming multimedia content and more. Additionally, this Motorola modem supports the DOCSIS 3.1 cable standard along with Active Queue Management (AQM), which is designed to reduce network congestion and speed up online tasks such as page loads, gaming, video conferencing, and more. Setup is easy, and with built-in lightning and power-surge circuits, you have additional protection against power spikes which can harm your modem.
On the back of the MB8600 you will a single Gigabit Ethernet port making it easy to connect this modem to a router, computer, or other Ethernet enabled device. There are also three additional Ethernet ports that are hidden by a yellow cover. These three Ethernet ports are not for connecting multiple devices. The three masked Ethernet ports are for connecting to a router that can bond more than one Ethernet port to achieve speeds up to 1 Gb/s when supported by your cable service.

This modem is the best one in the market. Even if it is not on the approved modem list for your ISP (Charter anyone?). My experience: Charter recently decided to upgrade all customers to 100mbs. My old modem was downloading at 115mbs average, but Charter had made it incompatible with their hardware at the 100mbs level. I started looking for a modem that was going to provide me another decade of hassle free service. My first choice was the Arris SB 6191 but I kept had a problem with the fact that it was manufactured by Arris and not Motorola. I found I it had a faulty chipset built in. So in a dedicated search for Motorola I discovered the MB8600. I could not find a bad thing about the modem (other than few bad reviews from people obviously don’t get technology). Once I received the modem I installed it and called Charter to activate it. After we had everything going I asked about increasing my speed, because why not since my modem can handle it? He transferred me to sales and I set an appointment to upgrade. They had to come to my address and remove a throttle lock that I must presume is on everyone’s connection to prevent people from getting great internet at too low a price. The tech started walking towards my house carrying a modem and I told him I didn’t need their modem. After seeing what I had he called his boss and his boss’ boss and they all agreed that they had never seen a homeowner with their own 3.1 DOCSIS modem and weren’t sure how to proceed. I told them to take their modem and be on their way. I upgraded to the Spectrum Ultra, the fastest available in my semi-rural area, which offers 400mbs download speeds. My internet now comes into my house at a blazing 460mbs with 20mbs up. That is tested through speedtest.com over my wifi connection. Do not believe any of the bad reviews for this product. This is the beat modem you can buy and B&H Photo is the best place to get it, with a $30 savings over amazon.

I bundled 2 LAN ports together, and the speed was great, also the stability was great too!

I replaced my old Motorola Modem with this MB8600 last June 2018. In November, less than six months of use, this modem started having a disconnection issue (most of the time at night!). I followed the instructions on the Warranty and contacted Motorola Technical Support Services at 1-800-753-0797. The technician blamed on my Cox Internet Service Provider (ISP) changed something on Cox network. He informed the issue will not be resolved until January or February 2019 with Cox ISP. Motorola would offer a loaner MB7621 if you shipped the MB8600 to Motorola for upgrade (Note: You have to wait for the problem to be resolved with Cox ISP until January or February 2019. Motorola and Cox website still show MB8600 is compatible with Cox network.) Instead of getting the loaner, I used NetGear CM1100. No issue with the internet connection at all!

This is my first Motorola cable modem and it’s working great. Setup was a breeze; unplugged my old Cisco modem and connected the Motorola in it’s place. Igave the modem a few minutes for all the connections and lights to come on, then connected my PC directly to the modem’s Ethernet port. I opened IE and it went directly to an Xfinity setup page to enter my account details to verify new modem should be on my account. The modem restarted (~3 minutes) and I was successfully connected to the internet. I then unplugged my PC’s Ethernet cable from the modem and connected the modem to my router’s WAN port. My router’s WIFI and LAN immediately began working with the Internet again. Overall it was an easy 15 minute modem swap that anyone could do if you follow my steps. I now get 285Mbps Down and 12Mbps Up. Cheers!

This was a very easy install with xFinity — it was around 10 minutes. There’s an app that you enter a code for the new modem to begin working. Bonus was 1,000Mbps was less expensive than the 300Mbps I was getting!

This is a nice, high speed modem that worked flawlessly out of the box. No problems activating it with Xfinity. On gigabit service getting download speeds of 900Mbps+ and uploads of 45Mbps+. Simply put, it does what it’s supposed to do.

Reliable and working as expected. Connected with Xfinity service in less the 10 minutes. Works great. No complains at all.

This was an easy setup. For Comcast xfinity subscribers, you will need to call customer service for activation.

After struggling with a highly rated Arris Xfinity modem/router which dropped out and had to be rebooted at least daily I tried this in combination with a Netgear Orbi and one satellite. . The results are amazing, like night and day. It was easy to set up and Ive had a stable internet connection and perfect Wi-Fi throughout by home and back yard for the last week. I was starting to think Wi-Fi was a joke and that Xfinity was hopelessly unstable. . This is a excellent, basic cable modem. There is no phone connection or built in router but for my use simple and reliable are far better. . I have recommended this to friends already. Go for it!
