Built on the AMD B450 chipset, the MSI B450M PRO-M2 MAX AM4 Micro-ATX Motherboard supports 3rd generation AMD Ryzen processors with the AM4 socket. Its dual memory slots support a max of 32GB of DDR4 RAM that can be overclocked up to 4133 MHz. For storage, there are four SATA III ports as well as a Turbo M.2 slot utilizing the PCIe 3.0 x4 interface. While the motherboard is equipped with DVI-D, VGA, and HDMI outputs for integrated graphics, it also has a PCIe 3.0 x16 slot for a dedicated graphics card. Other notable integrated features include Realtek ALC892 7.1-Channel HD Audio and Realtek 8111H Gigabit LAN. This motherboard features PCIe steel armor to protect GPUs from bending and EMI. Equipped with DDR4 Boost, Audio Boost, Core Boost, X-Boost, and EZ Debug LED, the B450M PRO-M2 MAX provides the performance you need to build your own compact gaming rig.
Please note that this motherboard does not currently support the AMD Ryzen 5000 series processors at this time. Support will be added through a BIOS update later in January, 2021.

Not exciting, not glamorous but it gets the job done! Good price to performance ratio. Worked with Ryzen 3600 out of the box. Save some $$ by buying this well built if unremarkable board and put it into more important/flashy pc parts. Was pleasantly surprised by MSI’s visual bios. Well made and helpful.

When you first unbox the Micro-Atx it will become clear that this is the motherboard of your dreams, although only bolstering 2 DDR4 RAM slots this board will be able to support just about any game you want to play, (given the appropriate hardware) easily installed, came in one peice, no missing or broken parts, fit very easily in a mini tower case, and even in my mid towers case aswell, came with all the parts extra screws and whatnot for an incredibly easy instal, would recommend for a build, although note this is not the board for some kind of supercomputer Board, it will supply all the ports, slots and docks you need plus some for all your hardware desires, I run a Ryzen 6 2600 with a Mini Itx 1650, and a 550 gold, it can run just about any program or game you want Would recommend, pretty affordable for what you get

this board replaced another for which support was attempted but did not happen. When the whole system still did not work, MSI support made a suggestion which did solve the problem. It was really a bad AMD processor. A very rare event.

Really good motherboard for the price does NOT have an ARGB header but that was alright by me.

I purchased 2 of these motherboard to setup my daughters up for on-line school, games and other. I didn”t want them on my new build. So, far they have worked fine with no issues. I paired the motherboard with a AMD 3 3200G, with graphics and 8 GB Ram. Maybe later I will update both to 16 RAM, but they really don’t need it. I would recommend this motherboard. I might be buying another one to setup my a friend son with a first computer. I’ll see how that works out.

Don’t believe the rave reviews! I bought this board to pair with the AMD Ryzen 5 4500, which is now being bundled or recommended as a deal to customers both here at B and H and elsewhere. It didn’t even post, as it never got past the CPU LED indicator lighting up. This indicated an incompatibility or damage issue, but the CPU wasn’t damaged in the slightest and is compatible with the board, so that wasn’t the reason why this was happening. All the other components were fine (brand new) and compatible as well. After two aggravating weeks of swapping out components, buying new ones, and going back and forth between MSI and AMD support, I eventually RMA’ed the board, spending an additional sixteen bucks in S and H for the trouble. This defeated the purpose of having gotten this mobo and CPU for a steal in the first place, so needless to say I wasn’t happy. Throughout this entire saga, I researched this issue and as it turns out, the CPU indicator LED error is a common MSI problem, regardless of whether there’s a legit issue with the CPU or not. To make matters worse, even though product descriptions or specs state that an MSI mobo is compatible with a particular CPU, some of these boards come shipped with an outdated BIOS that can’t be updated for the newest generation of CPUs unless you have an older one handy. For this mobo, this isn’t a big deal if you already own an older compatible CPU and are just upgrading your build. But what if the oldest CPU you own predates the oldest one that was last compatible for this board? For example, what if you are jumping from AM3 to AM4? It means buying an additional older AM4 CPU for $100 or more just to update the BIOS for the new AM4 that you have just bought. In fairness to MSI, the company seems aware of this problem to such an extent that some of their boards do have an option to flash the BIOS with a USB drive (like the Tomahawk). Unfortunately, this particular model doesn’t have this feature at all, which is ridiculous because it seems to be the one that would need a BIOS flash button the most! In any event, after a month of cooling my heels and waiting for the board to get shipped out, I got it this week and set it up, and now the board is working. However, I can’t help but wonder whether there was a defect that needed to be repaired at MSI or if this was just a simple matter of a BIOS update. So, even though it seems to be a decent board, I’ve rated it three stars and posting this long review as a warning for others to not be swayed by the glowing reviews or lulled into a false sense of security thinking that it’ll be smooth sailing buying this and a compatible processor out of the box. It seems as if companies like MSI are taking it increasingly for granted that system builders tend to have spare parts around. That may be true for the more hardcore builders or professional tech repair people, but not hobbyists.

This is my second MSI B450 motherboard. It is reliable and supports a broad range of CPUs. If you plan on updating the bios note that it came with the 7B84vA8 version. The latest version 7B84vAC has a keyboard bug. Stick with A8.
