The MSI Z490-A PRO LGA 1200 ATX Motherboard is built on the Intel Z490 chipset, supporting 10th generation Intel Core and Pentium Gold/Celeron processors with an LGA 1200 socket. It has four memory slots for up to 128GB of dual-channel DDR4 RAM, which can be overclocked to up to 4800 MHz and above. For storage, it’s equipped with six SATA III ports and two M.2 slots. There are two PCIe 3.0 x16 slots for graphics cards and three PCIe 3.0 x1 slots for other PCI-based hardware. Other integrated features include Realtek 8125B 2.5 GbE and Realtek ALC892 7.1-channel HD audio.

So far my experience has been alright, booted normally, all is well 3 months out from build date. But I had some major issues at time of building with the lack of extra fittings. I mean even the worst quality IKEA furniture comes with at least one extra screw. There were no extra standoff screws, at least for my case. And the worst part is that they included literally zero m.2 securing screws that weren’t captive to their subpar brushed aluminum heatsink. Worst experience I’ve had with an MSI product though, so I cant complain too much as it has worked for me since day one.

Purchased for son’s first build and worked great. Included documentation could be better but the online docs from MSI filled in the gaps. B&H shipping was quick and product arrived well packaged.

FedEx has misplaced my package but I have five stars of anticipation. I’ve been getting ready for my first build in six years. I became concerned because my new Thermaltake 500W PSU has a 4+4 (8) pin 12V connector but MSI instructions want a 4 pin in addition to an 8 pin. The consensus of forum opinion is: the additional 4 pin connector just supplies additional current for overclocking. This board will probably run fine with only the 8 pin connection but I bought a molex to P4 adapter to put my mind at ease.
