I bought a Nesco Dehydrator in large part because I wanted to make jerky, the Dehydrator did not include a Jerky Gun, and I found this one at Home Depot…I have only used it once, and I think with some more practice I will be better at it, so I cannot comment on its functionality, but seems it will work for what I need it for

Just purchased a dehydrator and saw that Nesco sells pre-packed spices to make beef jerky. I saw they had a “Jerky Gun” and it came with spices so I figured “what the heck”, might as well get the gun too and try it out.BEST DECISION EVER!It’s so easy to make the jerky strips (with ground beef) with this gun! Holds about a pound of ground beef and works really well. I recommend this to anyone who is planing on making beef jerky out of ground beef with their dehydrator.

Easy to use and clean. It would be nice if the jerky gun would have an integral cutter or blade to cut the pieces because using a knife or just breaking off the pieces is awkward since the meat is stringy and does not cut clean easily.

the gun works well at first. It pops loose if you pull too hard on the trigger. I do jerky about twice a month, which its fine for. If you are serious about jerky get a metal one. Ya get what you pay for. The seasoning is incredible!

Spices are great, i added some green chile and garlic powder, with a libral dash of Teriyaki sauce! Assembly and use was easy, however, the very first time i loaded and went to use it, the plastic tube split open right at one of the two molded seams as soon as i pulled the trigger. I was able to repair it with some plastic weld (modeling glue) and reinforced it with military grade duct tape, works fine now, but i suggest they go to a better mold process or reinforce it from the start. Still, for the price, its hard to beat.

I started making jerky recently and asked numerous friends what jerky gun they use. They all said they use this Nesco gun and seasoning packets for their jerky making.After using it for multiple batches of venison jerky, I wholeheartedly agree with them.The gun itself comes with a clear tube for the meat, not white like the product picture shows. I prefer the clear as you can see how much meat is left in the gun so I’m glad it came this way. Everything screws together easily and breaks down quickly for washing or reloading and changing tips.It’s easy to load with ground meat, and it’s very easy to spread jerky in strips or sticks using this device. An entire pound of meat will fit into the gun and that creates enough jerky strips and sticks to fill three entire trays on my dehydrator. I did not try using non-ground strips of meat, the directions say it can, but I prefer to use ground meat.The original flavor seasoning packets included are delicious. Just the right amount of salt, onion and pepper flavor mixed in without being overpowering or having the pepper take over the entire recipe like some do.You get enough cure and seasoning to make five pounds of jerky meat (before dehydrating). Seasoning packets can be bought later in separate packages without needing to buy another gun.Because the gun disassembles completely it’s easy to wash and dry.If you can use a caulking gun, you can use this jerky maker. Ground meat comes out of the tips without a huge amount of pressure on the handle and the tips keep it nicely formed on the dehydrator tray.I definitely recommend this to the home jerky maker.

Great and easy to clean. The last half inch or less of meat gets stuck inside the tip when you’re close to the end, but it’s really not an issue. The spice packets are also really well seasoned, but be aware they are for 2 pounds of meat (I split it in half for 1 pound and it still tasted great).
