I’ve cut cheese, sliced homemade bread and sliced meat with it. It works perfect. I also found it very easy to clean.

I have now used my Nesco 180 W Silver Electric Food Slicer several times without any issues including one use that was about 20 minutes of continuous slicing of salami, cheese, smoked ham, smoked turkey breast and a slab of fresh bacon. It has done a very good job I would recommend this to any Family Kitchen. Disassembly and cleaning is simple and well designed. While it is not commercial grade it is at the high end of consumer grade quality.

It’s pretty good. Don’t think you can use it once or twice a week. Don’t think it would last long. Not strong enough for that. Good for slicing corned beef on st. patty day. Or slicing of beef occasionally, bread cheese..

This was a pleasant surprise of a product that is affordable, cleanable and really does the job. It is a bit noisy but you’re not supposed to have it going all day. It is a good home slicer. My first try with it was a meatloaf I had made that I hadn’t cut yet. I set it at about 1/4″ (about because I have yet to figure out what the numbers on the dial mean) and began to slice. My meatloaf is notoriously given to falling apart when slicing but this slicer had no problem The blade went right through and they slid onto my plate. Have tried cheese too with no problem. It came apart easily for cleaning which means I will actually use it! Is it one of the “big boys”, no however it is fine for home use.

To begin with, you must understand that this slicer is not meant for industrial, everyday use, at least I hope it’s not. Now, with this said, it’s a great slicer for home use, for preparing parties, for slicing down bulk items to save money, to prepare slices for sandwiches or for convenient storage, etc. One thing I can say is that it is extremely easy to clean. . . all you do is turn the spindle knob, pull out the blade, wash one side, wipe it down, wipe down the machine and you’re done! We always have something that needs to be sliced, from breads to cheeses, to meats and veggies. I’ll admit, this thing slices bread perfectly due to the blade design (which is highly similar to a bread knife). Cutting cheese is okay, but the more fat/grease it has the harder it is to cut as the blade will start to stick to it, but harder cheeses and softer cheeses with less fat/grease will be cut perfectly. I have not tried any large pieces of meat such as ham or roast beef but it did cut an old 2″ stick of salami, but with some difficulty. If you’re cutting something and you see the machine is having difficulty, then give it a minute or two to cool down, as you don’t want to burn up the motor too much. You will start to notice the unit getting warm in the back. One other thing that should be worked is the back plate against which you press the food into, as it moves back and forth, causing uneven cuts. This needs to be more stable. It is slightly off angle, but if you press it just enough with whatever you’re cutting, it will become level with the blade, so perhaps this is just an experience issue for me. On the other hand, it is designed well for the price and is able to hold all sorts of things with the loading plate. It has teeth that dig into whatever you’re slicing and hold it firm into place. Be careful to leave a little chunk unsliced, or you’ll run the risk of running the blade into the spikes or getting your fingers too close and getting seriously cut. For a kitchen machine to have standing around for occasional use, it’s not bad. I was able to slice up all this food below in about 10 minutes.
