The steamer works as it should. Steaming rice works much better than a rice cooker. Rice cookers brown the rice at the bottom. Steaming vegetables tastes much better than other means of cooking and done right they ratain some of the snap.

Cannot use both clear baskets on base, only one has a lip to secure in place, and didn’t care for removable centers of baskets bottoms ,plus two of the legs were broken off the bottom of the rice bowl. Not as well made as wished.

The steamer part was fine. Did not like the fact that bottom of the bowl is a separate piece that makes it hard to turn-over to remove the contents. I now use a bowl from my old steamer. It works fine.

This is a wonderful steamer. I would recommend it to anyone who is cooking for One. It is a little small for large portions of food. I would have liked it to have a divided plastic bowl for warming up food. But in spite of that, it is serving me well. I like that it actually shuts off if it runs out of water. That is a safety feature I really appreciate. The steamer I had before this one didn’t have that feature. Since it did run out of water a couple of times without me realizing it, I really think that is why the heating element burned out.
