Using its USB 3.0 port, connect your Windows-compatible desktop or notebook computer to dual band 802.11ac wireless networks, as well as 802.11a/b/g/n networks with the AC1200 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter from Netgear. Dual band technology helps to reduce interference for improved connections to Wi-Fi devices and allows users to connect to networks supporting 5 and 2.4 GHz frequencies. The 5 GHz frequency supports 802.11a/n and allows compatible devices to take advantage of data transfer speeds of up to 867 Mbps for HD video streaming and online gaming. The 2.4 GHz frequency supports 802.11b/g/n and provides data transfer speeds of up to 300 Mbps, allowing users to engage in less-intensive web tasks, such as web browsing. The 5 GHz frequency also supports 802.11ac, allowing users to benefit from connectivity speeds of up to 1200 Mbps.
For those who are concerned about this USB Wi-Fi adapter not having a strong range, the AC1200 has been designed for use in large homes and features high gain antennas for improved performance. Beamforming+ technology is also integrated into this adapter and helps to further boost speed, range, and reliability. Push ‘N’ Connect helps to create secure push button Wi-Fi connections (WPS) and Netgear genie dashboard controls help to connect a Wi-Fi device to your home network.
This Wi-Fi USB 3.0 adapter is compatible with Pentium class systems running 64 and 32-bit editions of Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP. Although a USB 3.0 port is recommended, this adapter is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1. Included with the AC1200 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter is a USB cable with a desktop dock.

Unreliable to use, most of the time it has ~5% packet loss which is unacceptable, reinstalling the driver fixes it like half the time temporarily.

This USB adapter is fantastic. It’s easy to set up and works perfectly out of the box. It has great range and speed too.

Absolute garbage, drops connection constantly and can’t maintain a half decent connection. Have reinstalled drivers multiple times, all other devices function perfectly fine. Don’t buy it unless you’re only planning on browsing facebook once a month

This USB WiFi Adapter works well enough in my residence for my internet needs. The setup is easy and I like that it is USB 3 but the setup GUI is dated. Many PC’s do not have disc drives so a plug and play option would have been better. It is a stylish piece of hardware and has a nice desktop dock but the adapter is quite big.

Since working from home, I’ve opted to find alternative versions for getting internet in some of the dead zones in my apartment. Unfortunately this didn’t work. My apartment is 3 bedrooms and this bedroom isn’t too far from the modem. Perhaps I’m using it incorrectly?

I am completely satisfied with this USB WIFI adapter from Netgear. It is a breeze to set up and install and is very unobtrusive on my desktop. I have a very fast WIFI speed obtained with this device. The setup disc that is included with this product is useless as I don’t use cd-rom anymore, however included with the setup guide is a web link to the installation program for those who has systems without cd-roms. All in all this is a great product.

My WiFi used to be spotty and weak at best downstairs where I did a lot of my work. But with this product from Netgear it’s like I’m sitting right next to the modem. Great job team at Netgear!

I love this! I work remotely most days so having this as a backup is really nice for travel or those odd spots depending my location. I’m also not very techy and was grateful for how easy it is to set up/use. Super awesome. I feel much better about moving around in the house or anywhere and still being able to use my laptop/grab wifi!

I bought this adapter a year ago, and after a month, I enjoyed it, but at the one month, mark was when I started to have lots of problems with the adapter because it kept on turning off by itself. I kept on using the adapter for 5 months with the same problem going on, so I decided maybe it’s the drivers. So after finding the correct drivers from Netgear, I installed it, and it worked fine most of the time, but it still turned off by itself even on other computers I had. It was just a few days ago when I was browsing the web, and the adapter turned off again, so I did the usual of unpluggin the adapter and plugging it back in, but except this time it did not turn on. I am still impressed it even made it this far, but yes now it does not turn on in whichever computer it is plugged in and now I have to get a new adapter to connect to the wifi for my desktop.
