Dual band technology helps to reduce interference for improved connections to Wi-Fi devices and allows users to connect to networks supporting 5 and 2.4 GHz frequencies. The 5 GHz frequency supports 802.11a/n and allows compatible devices to take advantage of data transfer speeds of up to 867 Mbps for HD video streaming and online gaming. The 2.4 GHz frequency supports 802.11b/g/n and provides data transfer speeds of up to 300 Mbps, allowing users to engage in less-intensive web tasks, such as web browsing. The 5 GHz frequency also supports 802.11ac, allowing users to benefit from connectivity speeds of up to 1200 Mbps.
For those who are concerned about this USB Wi-Fi adapter not having a strong range, the AC1200 has been designed for use in large homes and features high gain antennas for improved performance. Beamforming+ technology is also integrated into this adapter and helps to further boost speed, range, and reliability. Push ‘N’ Connect helps to create secure push button Wi-Fi connections (WPS) and Netgear genie dashboard controls help to connect a Wi-Fi device to your home network.
This Wi-Fi USB 3.0 adapter is compatible with Pentium class systems running 64 and 32-bit editions of Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP. Although a USB 3.0 port is recommended, this adapter is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1. Included with the AC1200 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter is a USB cable with a desktop dock.

When I ordered my AC-1200 wireless router a couple years back, it was to replace an older one that wasn’t as fast. The wireless in my laptop was N so that is what I wanted to work with. I have always relied on LAN cable to connect the desktop but a lightning strike last year came through the USB to my Ham Radio and ruined it so I decided to get rid of the LAN cable and after reading about this wireless 3.0 adapter, I ordered two, not realizing my wireless router was already the newer, faster ac. With the N connection my download is about 70 Megs, tops. With this wireless adapter, my download is 175 Megs and that is as fast as with LAN so this adapter is every bit as good here, as a direct connection to the router. Also, this connection is now so strong that everywhere in the house, the speed does not change. This is an excellent adapter and not obtrusive.

I received my adapter and it took a little bit of time to set up and understand exactly how it worked, but ultimately when I did it was easy to use. I’m not sure if it really makes a difference considering you need WiFi to use it, but happy to have it in my electronic stash.

After using this stick for 3 years now, it suddenly died on me. I liked it very much, even if it crashed from time to time. Since I used it as recommended in the user manual and had the drivers up-to-date I think it wasn’t my fault at all. Since I still have over 10 years old wifi usb sticks, that still work, I can’t recommend this one. It is really sad, since I was happy with Netgear devices so far.

I am not a big fan of Netgear products. Among all of those, AC6210 is at the top of the list. Keeps disconnecting from the internet when I am doing something important. I said never ever to Netgear devices again.

Was easy to set up . My connection was slow and typing was a big difference . Reconnected the the router cable . It could be my computer . The wifi connect on my laptop is way quicker . I’ll try again later to see if my desk top is at fault
