Using its USB 3.0 port, connect your Windows-compatible desktop or notebook computer to dual band 802.11ac wireless networks, as well as 802.11a/b/g/n networks with the AC1200 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter from Netgear. Dual band technology helps to reduce interference for improved connections to Wi-Fi devices and allows users to connect to networks supporting 5 and 2.4 GHz frequencies. The 5 GHz frequency supports 802.11a/n and allows compatible devices to take advantage of data transfer speeds of up to 867 Mbps for HD video streaming and online gaming. The 2.4 GHz frequency supports 802.11b/g/n and provides data transfer speeds of up to 300 Mbps, allowing users to engage in less-intensive web tasks, such as web browsing. The 5 GHz frequency also supports 802.11ac, allowing users to benefit from connectivity speeds of up to 1200 Mbps.
For those who are concerned about this USB Wi-Fi adapter not having a strong range, the AC1200 has been designed for use in large homes and features high gain antennas for improved performance. Beamforming+ technology is also integrated into this adapter and helps to further boost speed, range, and reliability. Push ‘N’ Connect helps to create secure push button Wi-Fi connections (WPS) and Netgear genie dashboard controls help to connect a Wi-Fi device to your home network.
This Wi-Fi USB 3.0 adapter is compatible with Pentium class systems running 64 and 32-bit editions of Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP. Although a USB 3.0 port is recommended, this adapter is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1. Included with the AC1200 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter is a USB cable with a desktop dock.

Old adapter would lose connection often right while in use. New NetGear adapter has not lost connection since installed 2 weeks ago.

Had this for about a year now iirc. Constantly disconnects, no matter what it is plugged into, no matter the USB port, no matter if the PC goes to sleep or stays awake. Randomly and at the worst times, drops connection and frequently requires to be unplugged and plugged back in before the device will see it.

The set up was extremely easy, load drivers and then if you have a netgear router press a connection button on usb/router , seem less connection. Have had no signal drops and total connection

My son was the one who insisted that we figure out a different method so that he can have Wi-Fi on his computer so I was able to get rid of the wire connected to my router and to my sons computer. My son

When this WiFi adapter works, it’s great. The issue is, in a 2 hour span, my adapter disconnects from my WiFi at least once, sometimes twice. It is very frustrating, and none of the troubleshooting I’ve completed have fixed the issue.

Works well in Windows and Linux but drops occasionally on Linux and I have to unplug and replug the device in.

This Wifi adapter has been really helpful for me so far. I haven’t had any problems with setting it up and it works very well. I’m looking forward to getting to use it more now that I’m staying at home because of covid.

The problem with it more than anything else is that as soon as too much data comes in it disconnects. I’ll play D&D and use Zoom or Roll20 and it will disconnect 5 or 6 times in a session. Absolutely frustrating.

Worked well for what I needed but the adapter stopped working after 6 months. I called technical support and they are sending me a new one.

Bought this 2 months ago, and it has been awful for any kind of gaming ever since. Have the driver installed, verified I have no issue on wired connection. When using this product, however, I believe the product itself buffers network packets. Which means if you’re watching a video it’s no problem, and speed tests will all show high throughput. They don’t, however, show that it’s constantly stuttering in any multiplayer video game.

It work ok, I had issues with it, and had to sit on hold for 2 hours to get the issue fixed.
