Using its USB 3.0 port, connect your Windows-compatible desktop or notebook computer to dual band 802.11ac wireless networks, as well as 802.11a/b/g/n networks with the AC1200 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter from Netgear. Dual band technology helps to reduce interference for improved connections to Wi-Fi devices and allows users to connect to networks supporting 5 and 2.4 GHz frequencies. The 5 GHz frequency supports 802.11a/n and allows compatible devices to take advantage of data transfer speeds of up to 867 Mbps for HD video streaming and online gaming. The 2.4 GHz frequency supports 802.11b/g/n and provides data transfer speeds of up to 300 Mbps, allowing users to engage in less-intensive web tasks, such as web browsing. The 5 GHz frequency also supports 802.11ac, allowing users to benefit from connectivity speeds of up to 1200 Mbps.
For those who are concerned about this USB Wi-Fi adapter not having a strong range, the AC1200 has been designed for use in large homes and features high gain antennas for improved performance. Beamforming+ technology is also integrated into this adapter and helps to further boost speed, range, and reliability. Push ‘N’ Connect helps to create secure push button Wi-Fi connections (WPS) and Netgear genie dashboard controls help to connect a Wi-Fi device to your home network.
This Wi-Fi USB 3.0 adapter is compatible with Pentium class systems running 64 and 32-bit editions of Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP. Although a USB 3.0 port is recommended, this adapter is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1. Included with the AC1200 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter is a USB cable with a desktop dock.

I’ve had this thing for maybe…half a year or so and for the first month it worked great with great speeds. I now want to smash this thing with a hammer everyday of my life. It constantly disconnects and makes me listen to that stupid disconnect/reconnect noise constantly. I hate this thing with a burning passion and nothing fixes it. Driver updates do absolutely nothing to fix the problem, this thing is just straight trash.

For a novice, I figured it out and now have my WiFi always connected to my PC…

I bought this and it barely works. I have to reset it every 10 minutes because it stops working. Buy yourself an ethernet cable. This was a waste of money.

I already owned a netgear router and needed a wireless adapter for my PC. Software is easy to use and it has a very fast connection even on hotel internet.

I hooked this up to my laptop which is really old. I used to only be able to use the 2G wi-fi on it but since I plugged this in I can now connect to the 5G, which is great. What I didn’t like about it was the fact that it came with a CD-ROM to install it like something from back in the 90s. I think a corresponding app would be a lot more efficient than installing a software. Otherwise I like it.

The setup is easy, and once it was up and running my speeds were really fast. Very convenient and worth the money.

This definitely fits the description of portable wifi. I had to pull out an old computer to try this out since I thought all computers come with wifi! It also has dualband features which let’s me choose the speed and connections to avoid interference! This is super convenient and handy if you dont have onboard wifi in your rig. However, I do feel it might be best for a pc rig vs laptop. Its secure but if you are accident prone with portability like me it could get wrecked.
