Dual band technology helps to reduce interference for improved connections to Wi-Fi devices and allows users to connect to networks supporting 5 and 2.4 GHz frequencies. The 5 GHz frequency supports 802.11a/n and allows compatible devices to take advantage of data transfer speeds of up to 867 Mbps for HD video streaming and online gaming. The 2.4 GHz frequency supports 802.11b/g/n and provides data transfer speeds of up to 300 Mbps, allowing users to engage in less-intensive web tasks, such as web browsing. The 5 GHz frequency also supports 802.11ac, allowing users to benefit from connectivity speeds of up to 1200 Mbps.
For those who are concerned about this USB Wi-Fi adapter not having a strong range, the AC1200 has been designed for use in large homes and features high gain antennas for improved performance. Beamforming+ technology is also integrated into this adapter and helps to further boost speed, range, and reliability. Push ‘N’ Connect helps to create secure push button Wi-Fi connections (WPS) and Netgear genie dashboard controls help to connect a Wi-Fi device to your home network.
This Wi-Fi USB 3.0 adapter is compatible with Pentium class systems running 64 and 32-bit editions of Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP. Although a USB 3.0 port is recommended, this adapter is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1. Included with the AC1200 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter is a USB cable with a desktop dock.

This has been a great addition to my computer set up. I recently had to move my desk top computer upstairs away from my router. I did not want to run my ethernet cable up the stairs or through any walls. This was the simplest solution. I was worried because I heard that it was very difficult to load on my computer. I tried a few times to get this adapter to work, but have failed. I am not as tech savvy as I thought I was. It worked well initially every time, but after a while I noticed my computer slowing down and causing me problems. I read articles/instructions, but as stated, I’m not technically equipped to understand all the details of what to do to possibly fix my problems. I’m sure more computer-savvy users will have more success and find this to be helpful. Net Gear has some great products, but this one just isn’t right for me.

It’s great! But also experienced some problem… But i solved all the problem. I have one problem when starting the pc.. it can’t detect the device. So i just unplug the usb cable and plug it in again and then it works. The second problem with dropped connection i solved with a right click on the wifi so the computer forgets the wifi. I press right click and forget and then connect again…fill in the password and then it was solved. Also a reset on the router can do the trick if you have dropped connections. Iv’e connected this device with several routers and sometimes i have to change frequency on the 5gz in the router setting so the adapter can find the wifi 5gz… otherwise it will not appear. This may be a solution for dropped connection to..i’m not sure of that but give it a go if the other things don’t work. If anyone els has this problems.. try this it may help

I was having issues with my laptop connecting thru Wi-Fi. I didn’t know whether I needed a whole new laptop but I asked a salesperson at the store if there was a quick fix and he recommended I try this. It was really easy to install and works perfect. I’ll eventually buy a new laptop when I can afford it but this is great for now, plus now Wi-Fi is actually faster.
