Using its USB 3.0 port, connect your Windows-compatible desktop or notebook computer to dual band 802.11ac wireless networks, as well as 802.11a/b/g/n networks with the AC1200 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter from Netgear. Dual band technology helps to reduce interference for improved connections to Wi-Fi devices and allows users to connect to networks supporting 5 and 2.4 GHz frequencies. The 5 GHz frequency supports 802.11a/n and allows compatible devices to take advantage of data transfer speeds of up to 867 Mbps for HD video streaming and online gaming. The 2.4 GHz frequency supports 802.11b/g/n and provides data transfer speeds of up to 300 Mbps, allowing users to engage in less-intensive web tasks, such as web browsing. The 5 GHz frequency also supports 802.11ac, allowing users to benefit from connectivity speeds of up to 1200 Mbps.
For those who are concerned about this USB Wi-Fi adapter not having a strong range, the AC1200 has been designed for use in large homes and features high gain antennas for improved performance. Beamforming+ technology is also integrated into this adapter and helps to further boost speed, range, and reliability. Push ‘N’ Connect helps to create secure push button Wi-Fi connections (WPS) and Netgear genie dashboard controls help to connect a Wi-Fi device to your home network.
This Wi-Fi USB 3.0 adapter is compatible with Pentium class systems running 64 and 32-bit editions of Windows 8, 7, Vista, and XP. Although a USB 3.0 port is recommended, this adapter is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1. Included with the AC1200 Wi-Fi USB 3.0 Adapter is a USB cable with a desktop dock.

Not sure why others have such bad experiances with this Wifi adapter. Maybe they’re running they Wifi Network on 2.4 Ghz and have too many of them in their building. I run my Wifi on 5 Ghz and reach 760 out of the 866 Mbps theoretical maximum. With samba file transfers between my NAS and my computer reaching 350 Mbps. I am using the default Windows 10 drivers.

The AC1200WiFi USB Adapter was easy to install and put to use. Being a non-techie, the PC upload speed increase was immediate (from 47 to 315 Mbps). The download speeds remained unchanged from my previous 37 Mbps. Pleased the device works seamlessly on my PC. Was hoping for better improvement in my download speeds.

It was so easy to install, it came with a installation CD, Instructions, USB cable with the desktop dock and the Ac1200 wifi usb adapter. Works decently, as expected, but constant driver issues. When I start my PC the driver doesn’t load with Windows 7×64 and I have to disconect it from USB3.0 port and reconect it so the driver could be loaded. Sometimes seversl times.

Where has this wifi adapter been all my life? I recently had to downgrade to a new laptop that is less powerful than my older one. That downgrade came with a poor wifi card as well. I live in a two-bedroom apartment and struggled to stay connected to the internet until I began to test this adapter. The USB connector is super convenient and portable, and it is able to help my pitiful laptop stay connected to the wifi in my already tiny apartment. I would recommend this to anyone whose laptop or desktop experiences similar issues.

In my last house my computer was hard wired via Ethernet to my access point. Now that we moved it’s too difficult to hard wire my computer so I tried this USB device and it works great. I only do large downloads of programs/updates and videos and so far this is just as fast as my wired connection. I had doubts, but they are gone now! This little device is great!

My current residence is wired with fiber, but the connection is in the back of the house, in what is ideally a spare bedroom. This wireless adapter is perfect, it allowed me to put my office in the room that I wanted, just down the hall. The connection speed appears to be the same as when it was wired and it is a Dell desktop over 7 years old. I do not have a problem with the size of the adapter in its desktop dock, it really does not take up much space at all. Overall, this is a great product that met my expectations and I would recommend it.

I like to stream movies on my PC and it’s an older PC. I got the Netgear – USB WiFi Adapter. The set up was so easy went by the directions and in about 15 min the speed was very fast. I like the idea that I can use another cord to bring it closer to my modem for a better signal I am glad I got this so I am ready for movies all winter.
