You may not have to pay the rental fee from your provider but with Xfinity, they still have full control of your modem. They can flash your firmware so they can do anything they want to it. There is nothing user-friendly in the web interface that no longer works after Xfinity said they would fix my problem. If your interface works then the only thing you can do is read the logs. I have seen other posts with the same issue of no longer being able to access your web GUI. You can not fix this problem since you don’t have access to the firmware & Netgear told me they can not flash the firmware because it is taken care of by the ISP. This does not sound secure that my modem can be flashed from the public side. It also means I bought it but I don’t own it.

Just as advertised…easy/quick set up, and got the top speed from my ISP. Got the Netgear AC1900 wireless router and it hooked up perfectly and now I’m getting great wireless connectivity and high speed all over my 2500 sq ft, 2 story house with the equipment in a far corner office of the 1st level. Very satisfied. If you want a good, consistent connection across a fairly big area, you have to spend a little money but this was totally worth it.

I bought this Modem to replace one I have had for a couple of years. I chose it for it’s new technology, the good reviews, and I wanted one that was certified by my cable provider. It is working flawlessly and everything seems to be faster on my PC when I’m using the internet. I used to have to re-boot my old one all the time to get things going again, but not anymore. The software is very friendly and easy to use. Nice looking unit too.
