I bought this router because I was switching from ATT to Xfinity and didn’t want to rent another router and waste money year after year. When they say it’s simply Plug-n-Play they meant it, setup was a breeze. Blazing fast startup speed and super quiet. Extremely lightweight design and twice as small as my previous bulky router. I definitely believe this has to be one of my top 10 purchases of all time.

The modem is small. thin, and well designed. I especially like the fact that is DOCSIS 3.1. It which will allow me to take full advantage of any speed changes in speed when Comcast implements the change as planned in about 9 months from 3.0 to 3.1. I was told this when I asked a Comcast tech if it was necessary to have a 3.1 modem prior to purchasing my CM1000.

This modem trumps the Cisco modem provided by Comcast. When it was activated, it was downloading the exact speed that I am expecting from Comcast. It was easy to set up as long as call Comcast first, deregister the old modem, have them register the new CM1000 and it is just like “plug and play”. I think this modem will stay awhile with me as it is already DOCSIS 3.1. So far, so good, no overheating noticed and my download speed has increased threefold.

I bought this at the end of July (2020) and have had nothing but problems after the first month. On a daily basis I have to disconnect and reconnect power in order to get service back. Now under 4 months on owning this product it has completely stopped working. The process of getting a replacement is worse then having no internet.

I installed this modem and had to reset it says least once a week. I called my ISP and told them i was having problems getting my TV to play streaming programs, they suggested an update of the new modem, which they did remotely. So far it has been working like i expected.

This is now my second Netgear router and they have both broke in just over 4 months. Conveniently enough, because YOU HAVE TO PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO GET PHONE SUPPORT AFTER 90 days!!! This is by far the worse, aggressive, sales type of phone support I’ve ever had to deal with. I will never purchase another better product again. I would rather use a dial up internet then use another Netgear product again! You have been warned! They work great until they don’t.
