The router was easy to setup for Xfinity, I hooked up the router and followed the Xfinity app and was online in a few minutes. So far I am getting the speeds that were promised. I should have upgraded awhile ago.

As a disclaimer: I did not pay full price for this, and I never would. At its full price point, there are better options; however, this gets the job done as a basic DOCSIS 3.1 modem. Getting this thing onto my account was a pain and that’s why it loses a star. You MUST connect and activate it to a computer via ethernet port. Most modern laptops like mine don’t have that and I wasn’t paying extra for an adapter. So I had to call Comcast customer service and get it added manually. I haven’t noticed a change in my internet speed at all as others have noted (I pay for gig with xfinity and still average 400 mbps, though the signal seems steadier). I’ve also not experienced dropped signals like other reviews across the internet claim. TL;DR – This is a great intro 3.1 modem to future-proof yourself some if you get it for the right price, but the set up process is frustrating.

Our system was installed seven years ago and the Internet cable provider supplied the cable modem. The system had been performing well up until the last few months. I figured I needed an upgrade to my modem. Time will tell, but there is a decided improvement in speed and functionality with this modem. I additionally upgraded my wireless router to a NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Tri-band Wi-Fi Router R8000. There are a plethora of features now in the system. I am certainly pleased. If I have any issues in the future I will update my review.

I had a Motorola 16 x 4 cable modem and upgraded to the Netgear cm1000 which is 32 x 8 so I’m getting a 25% increase in my current plan in the modem supports 1GB per second on Cox which I plan on switching to. Excellent device

I bought this to move away from Comcasts’ combined router and modem. Night and day difference. I would recommend this modem. Sure, it’s more expensive, but with Docsis 3.1 compatibility, this modem should be relevant for quite some time.
