I used to have the 3.0 CM1000 but unfortunately a power surge fried the hardware. Went and bought the 3.1 and my speeds increased by x3 ! The router I have is the Nighthawk 4000 and the two pair very nicely and function well without making things ridiculously pricey

Purchased this modem around the middle of January, and by the middle of September, it was down for the count. It did work well while it was operational, but 9 months is an extremely short timeframe. Now the warranty has expired and NetGear is trying to make me purchase the extended warranty to fix the defective item. I love NetGear products, but this process has me contemplating on switching to a different modem/router set-up
