Get the most out of your high-speed internet service while saving money with the Nighthawk 2.5 Gb/s Cable Modem from Netgear. This DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem supports 2.5 Gb/s cable internet service plans from most U.S. service providers, delivering exceptionally fast speeds for smooth 4K video streaming, playing online games, backing up data, and more. It can also be upgraded in the future for up to 10 Gb/s support as faster speeds become available. Don’t worry if you don’t have 2.5G internet speeds in your area yet. The Nighthawk cable modem is backward compatible with lower internet speeds and previous DOCSIS versions, allowing you to upgrade to faster speeds down the road without having to buy another modem. By owning your own cable modem, you can save money on paying monthly rental fees to your cable company. Please note that this cable modem does not have a built-in wireless router or telephone capabilities and will not work with cable bundled voice services.

Easy to setup and super fast speed. Twice the speed of my old modem.
Janice Powlowski (verified owner) –
It was easy to set up and connect to Xfinity. The shape does not allow you the option of mounting it on a wall.

Works well with Netgear Router. Love the streamlined look and space saver.

CM2000 is a real fast and reliable modem that’s super easy to get up and running.

You get what you pay for, and it was worth the cost.

I used my CM2000 cable modem for 10 months. It had intermittent lockups and Internet connectivity failures. It hard-failed last week, and it was a frustrating ordeal to get a new one on the extended warranty that I wisely purchased when I bought the modem. Netgear needs to provide lifetime free tech support if they actually believe in the integrity of their products. They offer a pitifully short 90-day warranty, then price-gouge for their extended warranties on their mediocre products. Shame on you Netgear.

Update (October 2020): After the NetGear team contacted me over the issue I was experiencing, they strongly suggested that I should get Comcast to check my incoming line, as both the CM1000 and CM2000 were reporting that I had “Partial Service” in the upstream. And indeed, it turned out that Comcast had installed a filter on their end that prevented some of my upstream channels from working properly! I was told that they put in the filter after they observed some “ingress” noise coming from my house. This must have happened a while ago, and I was never contacted. In any case, no such noise was detectable anymore, and Comcast removed the filter. The CM2000 now successfully and reliably locks all 5 upstream channels, and no longer indicates “Partial Service”. I am getting 1.2Gbps downstream and 42Mbps upstream, as I was hoping for for my 1Gbps/35Mbps plan with 20% overprovisioning. The CM2000 is a clear upgrade over the CM1000, and its improved UI actually helped me identify a Comcast-imposed limitation. Original review (September 2020): I bought this to replace a CM1000 in the hopes of capturing the 20% overprovisioning that Comcast does on their Gigabit plan — that actually worked for the downstream, giving almost 1.2Gbps! However, logging in to the modem (192.168.100.1), it shows that it can only lock 2 out of 5 upstream channels, while the CM1000 locked all 5 without problems. Very strange, but that looks to be more severe issue than the increased downstream benefit. So back to the CM1000 I will go.

Easy device setup (less than 10 minutes with existing hardware). After a month of ownership no issues to report. I paired this Modem with the RBK852 Orbi Mesh System and am consistently able to achieve 1300 Down and 45 Up from my ISP.

Loving this modem so far! It’s compatible with Optimum, thank goodness.
Lorenzo Wilkinson (verified owner) –
This modem provides great speed for my Gigabit Xfinity internet! With this modem I will be able to get the most out of internet and be able to take it to my next home.
Loren Sawayn (verified owner) –
It had my system in total chaos. The upstream would not work and the speed was the same as a 0ne gigabit modem. The cm1000 modem performed better.
Cielo Gleason (verified owner) –
I am very confused if this modem is performing at a good speed. I paired the CM2000 with my netgear RAX80. I expected very fast when running the speed tests. However the speed tests results weren’t as consistent as when used with the previous rental modem from Xfinity. Different speed test apps gave me different results. When I tested the speed with the previous modem, the results were faster and more consistent every time i ran. However, I don’t have any problems at all when doing my work over the internet.

Brand new CM2000 Modem died less than two weeks after installing it. All lights just started blinking, resetting it had no effect. Very disappointed with product.
Casimer Medhurst (verified owner) –
The previous modem sometimes lost internet for up to 15 minutes, the CM2000 solved this issue.
Keven Romaguera (verified owner) –
Modem failed after 6 months of use. It was replaced with a new one.

It’s hard in these days of tech overload to get your house in order. Luckily the netgear Nighthawk is easy to install and easy to use. Absolutely recommend.
Lupe Mitchell (verified owner) –
This NetGear modem is truly a gift to all my needs, fast and consistent connection without any drops since I bought it. The Docsis 3.1 and quality is why i bought it

This modem allows me to use my gigabyte Internet to its full capacity with no problem. Speed test shows 965 MB per second Internet speed download.
Dean Wyman (verified owner) –
Best speeds now and ready for the next level of internet speeds.

This modem just works. It stays up, doesn’t slow down and doesn’t require constant reboots. This modem features a next gen chipset that fixes all the problems, slowdowns and frustrations from my old cable modem. My only complaint is this didn’t come out sooner. I pull 1200mbps continuously out the 2.5gbps interface and it just keeps going.
