Needless to say, lightning does take out cable modems even on a surge protector. Mine would not work after being fried so I bought the same brand only to have the model not in working order when it arrived. I saw that I already had a NETGEAR router so decided to make it a pair with the cable modem. Have had no problems since installation. Only wish that the owners manual would be included in the box.

I bought it 3.5 years ago when we signed up for internet service through Comcast and found that we could save a lot on modem rental by buying it ourselves. I’m glad we got this model that supports up to 800 Mbps back then because it’s still plenty higher than the internet service we’re getting through Comcast. We recently had some flaky speeds and reliability issues (the modem’s downstream LED would blink instead of being steady) but it was found that the issue was the cable line coming into our house and not the modem.

Not worth the price. Numerous issues getting WiFi and it has nothing to do with my ISP. Modem is only 6 months old and has no software support. Very disappointed with this product and Netgear support.
