Turn your wireless network into a mesh system using the Netgear EAX20 AX1800 Dual-Band Wireless Mesh Extender. The EAX20 is designed to work with existing 802.11ax Wi-Fi routers to extend wireless coverage, transferring data at up to 1800 Mb/s over the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz frequencies. Upgrading from a traditional network to a mesh system creates a seamless, unified network that uses the same Wi-Fi network name (SSID) as you move from room to room throughout your home. Equipped with two powerful internal antennas, the EAX20 uses MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies to communicate with up to four devices simultaneously, helping to ensure reliable and fast connections for streaming 4K videos, playing online games, and more. Four Gigabit Ethernet ports are available for connecting wired devices such as computers, video game consoles, smart TVs, and more.

I bought this to upgrade from a wifi5 extender that had been a bottleneck for my smart home devices. It was extremely easy to install and connected to my existing network seamlessly. I also like the Nighthawk app which has a lot more areas to tinker in than the Linksys app I had been using. The only negative thing I really have to say about this unit is that the front LEDs are hideously ugly; they are all white, and very bright.

Well, I was trying to mate a Netgear extender to my old Netgear 900 router/modem. Purchased Netgear because I thought it would be ‘Plug-n-Play. Not….after three weekends of trying to mate the extender to the router/modem, I gave up….The problem seemed to be one not recognizing the other….WPS did not work which I thought would be the easy connection (talk/plug nplay)….I’m of an age 79+ (a CONSUMER) where simple is better….I’m doing more research to get Wi-Fi throughout a 3,000+ sq ft home….
