Turn your wireless network into a mesh system using the Netgear EAX20 AX1800 Dual-Band Wireless Mesh Extender. The EAX20 is designed to work with existing 802.11ax Wi-Fi routers to extend wireless coverage, transferring data at up to 1800 Mb/s over the 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz frequencies. Upgrading from a traditional network to a mesh system creates a seamless, unified network that uses the same Wi-Fi network name (SSID) as you move from room to room throughout your home. Equipped with two powerful internal antennas, the EAX20 uses MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies to communicate with up to four devices simultaneously, helping to ensure reliable and fast connections for streaming 4K videos, playing online games, and more. Four Gigabit Ethernet ports are available for connecting wired devices such as computers, video game consoles, smart TVs, and more.

I bought this because our modest single-family home had two networks and it was a pain to switch wifi in different parts of the house. This unit was easy to set up, is more powerful and has longer range than the old unit, and could actually service the whole house, though the mesh feature seems to work fine i.e. our phones switch to the stronger signal automatically. Unit is hardwired to main router. The speed is good, though at around 80 MBS only about 1/3 of the 250MBS I measure on hardwired devices (for download), and I get the same 20-25 MBS upload from it that I get from hardwired devices. Not sure why.

First, not easy to set up. Not like I was informed by Staple. Plug in ethernet cable and go. Nope! 1 hour on the phone to bridge. Finally got it working, and everything connected to it except my laptop with windows 10. Apparently, there is a issue with 10. Would not find the extender. Finally, an IT person figured that you could add a wifi adapter to my laptop. It found the extender right away. Keep this in mind if you have windows 10. It’s an issue. Otherwise, it works fine.
