Enhance your 802.11ax Wi-Fi coverage by using the Netgear EAX80 Nighthawk AX8 Wi-Fi 6 Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender to create a mesh network. The Nighthawk AX8 has four internal antennas and works with your existing router by using the same network name (SSID), allowing for seamless switching between devices as you move without having to disconnect and reconnect to the wireless network. Compatible devices can reach speeds of up to 1.2 Gb/s using the 2.4 GHz band and 4.8 Gb/s across the 5 GHz band, allowing for reliable high-speed connections for streaming 4K video, playing games, connecting smart home devices, and more throughout your home. OFDMA technology allows for optimized data transmission for up to eight devices at the same time while four-stream MU-MIMO support enables up to four 1 x 1 devices to stream content simultaneously.
For those who haven’t upgraded yet, this range extender supports previous Wi-Fi standards such as 802.11ac. Four Gigabit Ethernet ports are also available to connect wired devices such as smart televisions, computers, and video game consoles. There is also a USB 3.0 port to connect compatible storage drives and share photos, videos, documents, and other files across the network. Downloading the Nighthawk mobile app allows you to configure the Nighthawk AX8’s settings.

I have a home with 3 floors and a remote garage. Because my work requires a low latency and highly reliable network, I wanted to upgrade from the default hardware from my service provider. The fiber connection comes into the house in the basement on the far side of the buildings from my office. I put in a Nighthawk AX12 router with Cat 6e hardwire to the cable modem and picked up 900+MB/s WiFi with a stable jitter. I then started adding the EAX80 extenders. I needed 3 to cover the area and different elevations. These need to be placed precisely to get the best signal. That doesn’t surprise me since any signal extender is only as good as what it receives. The iPhone app does not show signal strength, but going to the mywifi.local page does. That allowed me to get the best signal setup. Showing a numeric value for the signal strength, even in”MBs” is better than showing the WiFi arcs. What did surprise me is how poor the performance could become. Although these are titled as “mesh” extenders, the current firmware appears to link to the network SSID, but doesn’t determine the best node to link to. It randomly selects the weakest signal with the same SSID resulting in sudden losses of data transfer and packet loss. I had to create 3 separate network SSIDs to avoid having the furthest extender attempting to link. I have also found packets being routed in a loop between extenders. Hopefully this can be fixed in later firmware releases. Mesh extenders that cost significantly less don’t suffer from this issue. I would only recommend this to a friend if they have a solid understanding of networking infrastructure (or if I could help them.) The current firmware is V1.0.0.36_1.0.1

I waited for this to get restocked because it was out of stock every where and it was worth it. I have full strength WiFi out in our shop and the pool house, it’s well over 100ft from the house. I now can stream movies and watch Hulu live without interruption. Easy set up, we use the manual. Cost $$ most expensive but the best reviews. I would buy again.

Was having problems with internet signal is areas of the house. Netgear solved the problem.

Easy to setup, speeds-latency are consistent and no packet loss. Pickup and transmit area is also larger than expected. I use this to extend out to a garage where I also run a server rack. Very impressed.

I purchased this in March of this year, I had connection issues, would not hold a connection, so I reduced my extended 5ghz band to 2400mbps..it then held the connection.. I have a 1gbps Xfinity connection. It was setup at the back of my house. I was getting 230mbps good enough, but I wanted it faster..yesterday I bumped it back up to 4800mbps but this time I turned on Mu-mimo..went up to 443mpbs outstanding since real world results are reduced to have over an extender since it has send and receive off of one band I get 900mpbs wifi directly to router

We already had a Nighthawk AX12 in our 1100sf condo but when we moved to a house with an unattached garage and over an acre of property, we found the drop-off in signal wasn’t meeting our needs. We bought AX6000. Installation was simple. Not only did we hook it up to the Xbox for faster speeds but now our garage and deck have WIFI! My WIFI-controlled outdoor security lights function properly, as well. Great investment.

I had a dead spot in the house, and this has helped solve that problem. Plus it lets me plus my computer in directly, instead of relying on a network card!

Increased range and reliability of my wireless network. I replaced a smaller less expensive Net Gear plug in extender.

I have WiFi cameras outside on all sides of the house. The cameras on the farthest side of the house did weird things sometimes when recording because of the weak signal. After installing the EAX80 extender, I now get 4 out of 4 WiFi bars on those cameras that previously only got 1 out of 4 bars. All cameras now work great! I setup the extender on that side of the house and coverage is now great all around!

I bought this almost 1 year ago. Kept in a clean studio at 78 degrees with workstation and sensitive audio and computer equipment. One day it just stopped working. No lights on and a clicking sound. Checked power supply; it was fine. Tried plugging into other outlets still just a clicking sound from inside the unit…no lights. Disappointing. I feel bad for Netgear. I think their supplier of the internal components which I’m sure were outsourced probably let them down with inferior product. Tried another unit that I paid for. It too had problems (loose parts inside) The failure rate is too high… moving on to another manufacturer.

Adding this to my home WiFi network greatly improved the range of my network. No more dead spots in my house or yard. Nice!

In the 11,000 square-foot area that I was trying to expand the Netgear Nighthawk mesh rage extender helped increase my coverage. I have a little trouble setting it up initially but eventually it functioned well.

I’ve had this extender for a few months, as well as a Netgear AX5400. My iPad is only 3 feet from the Extender and still is buffering and skipping. I purchased this to provide coverage in the back of my house, only 2,400 sq ft home. It does not work anywhere near as advertised. I have called tech support several times. They run a few tests and tell me it is fine. It is not fine. The Netgear app (not recommended) does not always find the Extender. I then need to reboot it and it finds it, for maybe a week or so. Not a good product at all.

I was short on wifi range in our upstairs on a split level house with the router in our main floor bedroom. I set the extender in our kitchen and it did exactly what I needed to improve streaming up stairs on 3 TV’s.

Extended my network with the same name all the way to all dead spots! So convenient and easy. Setup was a breeze with the app.
