Enhance your 802.11ax Wi-Fi coverage by using the Netgear EAX80 Nighthawk AX8 Wi-Fi 6 Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender to create a mesh network. The Nighthawk AX8 has four internal antennas and works with your existing router by using the same network name (SSID), allowing for seamless switching between devices as you move without having to disconnect and reconnect to the wireless network. Compatible devices can reach speeds of up to 1.2 Gb/s using the 2.4 GHz band and 4.8 Gb/s across the 5 GHz band, allowing for reliable high-speed connections for streaming 4K video, playing games, connecting smart home devices, and more throughout your home. OFDMA technology allows for optimized data transmission for up to eight devices at the same time while four-stream MU-MIMO support enables up to four 1 x 1 devices to stream content simultaneously.
For those who haven’t upgraded yet, this range extender supports previous Wi-Fi standards such as 802.11ac. Four Gigabit Ethernet ports are also available to connect wired devices such as smart televisions, computers, and video game consoles. There is also a USB 3.0 port to connect compatible storage drives and share photos, videos, documents, and other files across the network. Downloading the Nighthawk mobile app allows you to configure the Nighthawk AX8’s settings.

I’ve tried numerous times with very limited sucesss to get the extender to link to my wifi, Then in the couple of times it has connected-i then loose my internet connection. So i’ll be sending it back after way too much time wasted on it.

I bought this product around 25 days ago, i used it with nighthawk XR500 performance terrible, i have gigabit internet, wifi performance on the router around 500 download 330 upload, connected to extender rarely 50 download 10 upload really unstable connection. Distance between router and extender 9 meters, no wall in between positioned router at the first floor and extender second floor Both in the stairwell… Suggested to buy XR200 AX12 because “officially ” they are designed to work together…. Today i received the XR 200 pairing done…. same terrible performance. 1st of MESH there is nothing, it should be clearly advertised with which product the extender it will works MESH! I positioned the router and extender to be in visual line in the stairwell, when you go to first floor the router is too weak but the switch to the extender it doesn’t happen, so you lose connection.. I tried 2 ipad 2 smartphones and a laptop, same result connection lost… If you consider the cost vs performance, this extender it is an absolutely no buy!! According my experience what is advertised and what is reported it is not happening at all! It is a major disappointment, tomorrow i will try to pull a cable from router to extender using it as access point, if that was the solution to be used there were on the market far mach better access point far less expensive. Netgear I’m really sorry never again, those are my last product.

Super simple set up. Already had existing Netgear Nighthawk modem I connected to through the app. My modem was in the basement running gig speeds and the second floor always had spotty signal. The range extender definitely helps. Haven’t had any issues so far with connection.

I was originally excited to have an ultra fast alternative to the Orbi, but this Mesh Range Extender is a joke. It will not link via Ethernet to the main Nighthawk router, instead just repeating the WiFi. This is contrary how on Orbi Satellites you can have a wired Ethernet backhaul. I thought I did enough homework and read through the manual, but after 5 hours of troubleshooting — I give up. If you need a mesh network, stick with the Orbi line. Nighthawks only want to fly solo. So with my experience, don’t waste you $250 on this WiFi only repeater.
