Enhance your 802.11ax Wi-Fi coverage by using the Netgear EAX80 Nighthawk AX8 Wi-Fi 6 Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender to create a mesh network. The Nighthawk AX8 has four internal antennas and works with your existing router by using the same network name (SSID), allowing for seamless switching between devices as you move without having to disconnect and reconnect to the wireless network. Compatible devices can reach speeds of up to 1.2 Gb/s using the 2.4 GHz band and 4.8 Gb/s across the 5 GHz band, allowing for reliable high-speed connections for streaming 4K video, playing games, connecting smart home devices, and more throughout your home. OFDMA technology allows for optimized data transmission for up to eight devices at the same time while four-stream MU-MIMO support enables up to four 1 x 1 devices to stream content simultaneously.
For those who haven’t upgraded yet, this range extender supports previous Wi-Fi standards such as 802.11ac. Four Gigabit Ethernet ports are also available to connect wired devices such as smart televisions, computers, and video game consoles. There is also a USB 3.0 port to connect compatible storage drives and share photos, videos, documents, and other files across the network. Downloading the Nighthawk mobile app allows you to configure the Nighthawk AX8’s settings.

When 2 big cable companies said it would cost us thousands upon thousands to bring internet to a small house in the back of a main house I bought this nighthawk mesh extender. I was very skeptical that it would work because of the distance between the two dwellings but guess what? It did work. WiFi is now available throughout the new house w/o having to pay any new monthly fees.

It’s like supercharging your connection it is awesome, especially if you wish to hard wire other devices in the room where you have this extender. You don’t have to run a long wire from your primary router. Great addition to my Netgear network. It also helps if you are a gamer I have the Xbox series X and it helped once I added this device and I hard wired it in. If you don’t understand what it does exactly in layman terms it is basically a bridge to your other devices that have weak connectivity or are too far away from where your router is currently position in your house this device boost the area of coverage.

I have had some modest results – lots of disconects and sub-par switching from router to extender. I had hoped – assumed- that this extender would support a simple wired backhaul for the Mest with the RAX120 (or another nighthawk router) – but nada! The only way to make this work is to set this up as a separate AP which kills the whole mesh (and same SSID) concept. Too bad. How can Netgear ‘forget’ about Wired Backhaul ?!

I am very satisfied overall with this purchase. I have WIFI available much further than I thought I would. It is very useful and solved my issue. Only reason not 5 stars is it was not easy to set up. I followed all directions. Light never turned green. Had to install the app on my phone which I did not want to have to do. Other than that, great product.

This router is WAY overpriced. I connected a brand new Netgear switch to it via LAG (2G) and that worked fine, no errors. So I tested the new LAG connection (that had no errors) and was getting 150Mbps using speed test. Well that is interesting as I get 450Mbps without LAG (1G). I opened a ticket with Netgear and the rest is history. I’m not spending my life on the phone with a company I just bought $400 worth of equipment from. This router is also missing features like connecting to a syslog server. I don’t know if I’m sending the router and switch back (it’s not B&H’s fault) or just never buy another Netgear product again and smash these with a hammer. I’m not a happy camper.
