Enhance your 802.11ax Wi-Fi coverage by using the Netgear EAX80 Nighthawk AX8 Wi-Fi 6 Dual-Band Wireless Range Extender to create a mesh network. The Nighthawk AX8 has four internal antennas and works with your existing router by using the same network name (SSID), allowing for seamless switching between devices as you move without having to disconnect and reconnect to the wireless network. Compatible devices can reach speeds of up to 1.2 Gb/s using the 2.4 GHz band and 4.8 Gb/s across the 5 GHz band, allowing for reliable high-speed connections for streaming 4K video, playing games, connecting smart home devices, and more throughout your home. OFDMA technology allows for optimized data transmission for up to eight devices at the same time while four-stream MU-MIMO support enables up to four 1 x 1 devices to stream content simultaneously.
For those who haven’t upgraded yet, this range extender supports previous Wi-Fi standards such as 802.11ac. Four Gigabit Ethernet ports are also available to connect wired devices such as smart televisions, computers, and video game consoles. There is also a USB 3.0 port to connect compatible storage drives and share photos, videos, documents, and other files across the network. Downloading the Nighthawk mobile app allows you to configure the Nighthawk AX8’s settings.

I bought one without knowing that an extender actually cuts the wifi speed in half. My house probably needs the full powered mesh replacement. I like my Nighthawk router and am not sure it should be replaced. Not a fan of the Nighthawk extender.

Was able to easily create a full mesh network in my house and eliminate all dead spots. It may be a little pricey, but with over 30 devices on my network, I don’t notice any lag. Well worth the purchase!

If you need something to do then this is the router for you. The setup process using the New and Improved Netgear Nighthawk mobile application failed and did not enter my security questions so I had to do a factory reset on the router. That process only took a couple of hours. Then the fun really started. I set up my wireless access and actually got it working temporarily. The router would only connect in the 2.4 GHz band. Even with SMART CONNECT enabled. So it was time to call Netgear tech support. I have never dealt with support people that only knew how to read a script before. Bottom line after 6 phone calls and 8 hours of trouble shooting I was finally told by Netgear support that I needed to talk not just to a greeter and a level one support person but that I needed to talk to a level 2 support person and none of those were available. They would have to call me. I waited for a call back for 2 days and got nothing. All the time the router now has multiple issues and has to be rebooted every hour just to stay connected. The Netgear support person even logged my case to some other account that I had to open a new case # to get a case I could enter data into. All in all it only took 3 days and around 30 hours of frustration to get nowhere close to making anything work. That’s when I decided to send the router back to B&H. I was so happy to see that B&H would even pay for the return shipping. In the end I discovered the following issues with what is probably normal for this router. 1. Smart connect does not work and will not switch to 5GHz automatically. 2. Reserved IP address only confuse the router so it double assigns IP addresses to multiple devises. 3. Router reports assigned IP address that are not correct and changes devices IP at random. 4. A total of four 5GHz channels are available to manually select 36, 40, 44, and 48. All other channels listed are DFS and do not work. This makes it difficult to find an open channel in a busy area. 5. Even NFS to set the routers time does not work. You can change the time zone from the default and apply it. The router simply takes a couple of minutes to apply it and then changes it back to defaults. Good luck to anyone that purchases this router. I am going to purchase a router from a company that actually has a 2 year warranty and doesn’t charge $70/year for Security (Netgear Armor). A company that actually supports their products for no extra money after 90 days. Also I will buy a router from a company that doesn’t constantly hound you with advertising to send them more money to support their bad products with bad firmware.

The wireless has reached corners it used to have trouble with my old extender with strong signals.

Extended my already strong wireless signal from my RAX200. Paired together perfectly so I have great signal and speeds all throughout my home and even outside!

We live in an area where Wi-Fi can be spotty so we have always had issues finding a good extender. We’ve tried EERO, Orbi, Xfinity Pods, and multiple others but none seemed to work and it was always a hassle. This extender was not only easy to setup but has made everything in the house run faster, and with ZERO issues. I will only be buying NETGEAR solutions from now on.

We had to quickly update our network when all the schools shut down, we over night had 6 kids on chrome Books during the day all over our house. This range extender was very easy to set up, connected to our router and had the kids logged into their classes and in Zoom classes much faster then they would have liked. Using the App is very simple and lets me know what is happening with the extender and that we are connected to the router. So far this has been a great product.

Purchased both a new Netgear router and extender to set up for internet tv. Great signal throughout the house except for a 4k Sony tv about 15′ from the extender. Still trying to troubleshoot why the signal keeps dropping.

Highly recommend this product. Well worth the price, especially compared to mesh systems. Excellent signal strength, completely eliminated dead zones in my house.

I have been on a long search for the best range extender. I have bought several different devices with the same result. A weak signal or the range was to short. After much research and comparisons I went with the nighthawk and must say this is worth every bit you spend on it. It is a tad pricey but if you want the best signal and the most coverage this is the device to purchase. It’s easy to set up, and makes all my devices from phones, laptops, wireless printers, tablets and gaming consoles ultra smooth at a high speed. A must buy!!

This Wife extender has been worth every penny! My grandfather comes up from the South(Snow Birds are we call them), every Summer and stays in our camper in a our back yard. It approximately 100 yards from my house. Well I hooked the Extender up, using the app, which made it very simple and easy. But he loves it because he gets full bars and streams shows/movies easily in 4K without any leg!

Easy to set up and never had a problem with Netgear products easy to configure for new users and advanced users.

I had an extremely tough time trying to set it up at first. No matter how much research and troubleshooting I did, it didn’t want to seem to connect to my internet. I grew frustrated at one point and ended up leaving it alone for a few months, but I recently tried setting it up again. And now it works perfectly!! Although I struggled with the set up at first, this time around things went smoothly and my internet is faster than ever!

I have a nighthawk router so it made sense to me to get the nighthawk extender. I read a ton of the reviews and was a bit skeptical, but the set up was flawless and the extender is working perfectly. It updated and did everything it needed to and it’s fine. I don’t know why other people couldn’t figure it out, the app made it SO easy. If I’m on a work call and moving around, my call will trip up and need to reconnect when my signal switches to the extender, but it’s a quick hiccup and now that I know about it, I just make sure I’m not the one talking if I have to move to the extender’s region of the house. I’m getting great speeds and I’d recommend this even if you don’t have a nighthawk router.

I’ve had this extender for months, and honestly it’s only mde things worse. Despite having a tri band Netgear router, devices always connect to the EAX80 even when on a separate floor (but the same floor as the router). It also has a cap speed of 50 mbps, a common problem reported around the internet.

I travel 80% of the time and due to the COVID situation I have been home. It’s been a blessing in disguise since I’ve been able to spend so much time with my wife and 14 year old son. But I had no idea how many devices we are running and my current router just couldn’t get the signals throughout our house. After the easy set up of the Nighthawk WiFi 6 Mesh Range Extender, I can now easily connect and work in my office above the garage. The signal boost has made my daily Zoom team calls easier to lead with no freezing issues. Great product that does what it’s supposed to do!

If you already have a Nighthawk Wireless Router this is a no brainer for fixing dead spots. Now I can work from the porch swing.
