With enhanced 802.11ac Wi-Fi technology, the EX7000 AC1900 Nighthawk Wi-Fi Range Extender from NETGEAR supports wireless data transfer rates of up to 1900Mbps. In addition to 802.11ac technology, this range extender also supports 802.11a/b/g/n networking standards so you can connect nearly any Wi-Fi enabled device to the network. With dual band functionality, you can allocate tasks such as email and web browsing to the 2.4GHz frequency leaving the less congested 5GHz frequency for more bandwidth intensive jobs such as streaming multimedia content, gaming, and more. The EX7000 sports three external antennas for maximum wireless coverage as well as five Gigabit Ethernet ports for a range of network connection options. You can even connect USB compatible peripherals such as hard drives and printers to your network via the integrated USB 3.0 port located on the back of the range extender.

I bought this because I bought a new tv and moved my wifi to my living room instead of my bedroom. So I needed a range extender for the back bedrooms because for some odd reason, the bedrooms are total dead zones. We have a 1 story, 4 bedroom home. Anyways, set up is a little bit tricky at first especially trying to find the perfect spot to place the extender. For my 1600 square foot home, I placed it right in the middle of the entrance to our hallway that leads to the bedrooms. I tried setting it up with the same wifi as my main router but for some reason no wifi’s in the house would connect to the extender. They would remain with the living room router which is a dead zone weak 1 bar signal to our bedrooms. So, I created separate names for the 2.6ghz and 5ghz frequencies coming from our new wifi extender. Problem solved. I must admit every so many weeks I have to do a manual reset where I unplug the power for about 1 minute and then plug it back in because it seems like the speed gets slow. I have to do that as well to my main router to maintain our top speed of 500mbps internet. Also, I almost forgot, the first time you connect to your wireless extender, some websites and apps will not work for some reason. You have to find the latest firmware update in the support section of this website and manually upload it via the mywifiext.net link to your router. It’s frustrating if you are not tech savvy but ultimately, ehh….it gets the job done and delivers a 4-5 bar signal to our other wise dead zone bedrooms. Hope everyone else can figure it out and I hope my review helps you out.
