With enhanced 802.11ac Wi-Fi technology, the EX7000 AC1900 Nighthawk Wi-Fi Range Extender from NETGEAR supports wireless data transfer rates of up to 1900Mbps. In addition to 802.11ac technology, this range extender also supports 802.11a/b/g/n networking standards so you can connect nearly any Wi-Fi enabled device to the network. With dual band functionality, you can allocate tasks such as email and web browsing to the 2.4GHz frequency leaving the less congested 5GHz frequency for more bandwidth intensive jobs such as streaming multimedia content, gaming, and more. The EX7000 sports three external antennas for maximum wireless coverage as well as five Gigabit Ethernet ports for a range of network connection options. You can even connect USB compatible peripherals such as hard drives and printers to your network via the integrated USB 3.0 port located on the back of the range extender.

It is a decent item that could be great. It works most of the time. Occasionally it drops the 5g connection and my throughput is about a third what it is on the main router side. I have 1 gig down so it really doesn’t matter. It’s a good option if you have a large home and your main feed is on one side of the house.

I bought this so as to use the same WiFi name for my main WiFi and this Netgear Extender. I plugged it in on my desk and followed the easy setup instructions. They was a step where you can name this extender to the exact same name as your current WiFi router. Then allow anyone to use only one WiFi name and allow your device to auto switch to whichever had the strongest signal. I put the AC1900 in my basement to boost the weak signal from my router upstairs. It did the job and shows the same download speed as the main router upstairs. Just cannot go wrong if this is what you need to do

This product does not even pop up on my network to access the settings. I have reset it 100 times and keep trying when it finally sows up on the my network list, I do the whole set up but it stopped after this step. Then disconnects and stops working, and does not show up on the network preferences again. This is so frustrating. Tried the WPS button, with ethernet cable. Just disappointed. I had such high hopes.

Setting up using WPS is very straightforward. Connecting to the router through the web can be a pain though. Overall, I like the look and the functionality of the router. The only other major complaint would be plugging in ethernet cables to the unit is a bit hindered by the antenna. I would buy this unit again.

Originally bought this to extend my Nighthawk router. Once I upgraded to mesh system, I attempted to add extender. Not only did it work well but the software upgrade allowed me to add the extender to my existing mesh. Now only one SSID and password for the whole house and property. Would buy again.
