With enhanced 802.11ac Wi-Fi technology, the EX7000 AC1900 Nighthawk Wi-Fi Range Extender from NETGEAR supports wireless data transfer rates of up to 1900Mbps. In addition to 802.11ac technology, this range extender also supports 802.11a/b/g/n networking standards so you can connect nearly any Wi-Fi enabled device to the network. With dual band functionality, you can allocate tasks such as email and web browsing to the 2.4GHz frequency leaving the less congested 5GHz frequency for more bandwidth intensive jobs such as streaming multimedia content, gaming, and more. The EX7000 sports three external antennas for maximum wireless coverage as well as five Gigabit Ethernet ports for a range of network connection options. You can even connect USB compatible peripherals such as hard drives and printers to your network via the integrated USB 3.0 port located on the back of the range extender.

I bought this extender to help out our wifi in the house. However i have noticed that while all the lights are green it drops signal frequently! i only deducted a star because if this thing didnt drop so frequently it would be amazing… not sure if just defective unit or what because im not going through many walls or anything just boosting my signal through a hallway.

I’ve had this awhile to extend my Netgear R8000 router – and I also recently added EX8000 extender which is worth the extra money. I have big house and this combo covers all areas. My only gripe is the EX7000 cannot be managed using the Nighthawk app along with the router and other extender. The EX7000 is supposedly a mesh extender and part of the “Nighthawk” line so I don’t get why it can only be accessed thru a website. This is a big inconvenience and it’s not obvious when shopping for an extender. I bought the EX7000 extender in 2017 thinking it would match my router so I could manage both in the app – but not so.

Quality product that does what it says it does, with one exception. The naming convention has nighthawk in it but it does not offer any sort of nighthawk compatibility, within the application or in the nighthawk connectivity functions.

You’ll most likely need an extender to get the signal to cover your entire house or building. Your Ex7000 can most likely either manage which frequency a connection should connect to at a particular moment or it may leave it up to you to have both broadcasting with different names for you to decide which to connect to. A lot small mobile devices have trouble switching between networks. So I recommend having two separate networks for each band and setting each device manually. It’s rare, but some older devices may only be able to connect to 2.4 gigahertz connection. The signal strength can be adjusted from 25% to 100%. In case you may interfere with some access points near you.

Set up range extender in unattached garage, with the router at the opposite end of the house. Even through several walls and in a separate building, was able to get full bandwith and no drop in speed. Even running a pc and 2 phones or more it works better than expected.
