Upgrade your home to reliable, high-speed 802.11ax Wi-Fi using the Nighthawk MK62 Dual-Band Mesh Wi-Fi System from Netgear and have the freedom to smoothly stream 4K video, play games, and operate smart home devices from almost anywhere. This kit includes a compact router and a satellite that each use four internal antennas to wirelessly transfer data at up to 1.8 Gb/s across the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands without having to set up multiple network names and passwords. The system provides wireless coverage for homes up to 3000 square feet, and additional satellites may be added separately to expand your home’s Wi-Fi coverage and eliminate dead zones. Both the router and satellite are backward compatible with previous Wi-Fi standards such as 802.11ac and each include a Gigabit Ethernet port for connecting wired devices such as smart TVs and video game consoles. Two Ethernet cables are included to get you started. You can configure and monitor the router and its satellite using the downloadable Nighthawk mobile app.

I set up my new mesh WIFI in my home this weekend. Generally pleased with ease of set-up and excellent whole-home (and yard) coverage. Had an issue connecting some “smart” plugs and cameras that require a 2.4Ghz connection. To do so, I had to disconnect the two satellite nodes and place aluminum foil over the primary unit to weaken the signal sufficiently to allow set-up on the 2.4Ghz band. Once connected, I removed the foil and turned on satellite nodes and all is well.

For some unknown reason, I was unable to get the system connected once I changed the SSID to my old one, which I had for many years. I am also having issues connecting to one of the satellites that is in my garage, but I am going to move the primary router to see if that helps! So…it looks like I am stuck with the default one. Besides that, it seems to be working as advertised.
