Designed to support data transfer rates greater than 1 Gbps, the MS510TX 8 Port Gigabit Managed Switch from NETGEAR is capable of supporting a variety of multi-speed devices along with servers, workstations, storage devices, and other bandwidth hungry devices.
The MS510TX network switch comes equipped with eight 10M/100M/1G RJ-45 copper ports, two 100M/1G/2.5G RJ-45 copper ports, and two 100M/1G/2.5G/5G RJ-45 copper ports for optimal network connectivity. Accompanying the standard network ports are a single dedicated 100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G RJ-45 copper port and a single dedicated 1G/10G SFP+ (fiber) port to connect specialized networking devices directly to the switch. This NETGEAR switch also comes with a built-in USB port to easily update firmware and upload configuration files.
Once configured, network administrators can take advantage of a variety of networking features including extensive VLAN support as well as L2/L3/L4 access control lists and 802.1x port authentication. Additionally, advanced QoS services allow for port based, 802.1p, and L2/L3/L4 DSCP-based traffic prioritization. Managing your network has also been simplified thanks to the web-based management GUI and support for dual firmware images to help reduce network downtime.

I was looking for something to be at the top of my networking plan and this thing was the perfect fit. It’s the only switch if its type at this price. I needed something to supply my home office with 5GBE while also offering port aggregation for 2.5GBE ports for my NAS box/server. I was hesitant to buy this switch as I’ve had nothing but issues with their nighthawk routers but this was the perfect switch for my network rack. So I took the risk and have been very happy so far. This switch works as expected and the date transfer rates are amazing. Be advised that although this is a managed switch, it does not have a DHCP server so a router is required before this switch. I would buy another one of these again, if I had to.

nice price and easy installation, and fast with no errors. I needed to disable Auto-Video VLAN due to dropped packets on netgear GS716t.(i.e. VLAN ID mismatch)

A well priced switch and good for a network edge switch, due to the support for multiple Ethernet speeds. The most limiting factor is that the 1G, 2.5G, 5G speeds are port specific. This is likely a cost saving approach but having them all the ports as NBase-T speeds enabled would give this a much greater appeal. The 10G SFP+ port I have used a transceiver to give me two 10G Base-T ports. The transceivers are available on Amazon for $40 from multiple vendors. Where you have a need small number of ports and a need support a number of multi Ethernet ports, this is a good switch choice.
