The R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Router from Netgear uses a dual core 1GHz processor and AC1900 Wi-Fi technology to deliver speed and performance that’s perfect for gaming and streaming HD video. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless frequencies, providing up to 1900 Mbps (600 on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 on the 5.0 GHz band) data transfer rates.
The Nighthawk router utilizes Beamforming+ technology, meaning that unlike omnidirectional Wi-Fi which fans the signal out within a range, it communicates directly with devices such as tablets or smartphones, and beams a signal specifically to the device. This reduces interference, and provides stronger, faster, and more reliable connections. Mobile Wi-Fi speeds are much faster than previous technology thanks to the router’s high-powered amplifiers and antennas.
The R7000 Nighthawk router also supports both Google Voice assistant and Amazon’s Alexa for added functionality.

I run all my gaming devices through this router and it works flawlessly. You can have it decide what devices to run at 2.4 or 5.0 ghz or you can do it manually. Set up is easy and router looks great next to every electronic device. All around great product!!!

Was working as expected until now. Ethernet keeps disconnecting. Had to reset several times. Is there a software update for this?

We were hoping for a significant boost in range compared with the R6120 which did the job in our 1500 sq ft household for years, but it needed an EX2700 Extender to do so. Alas, even though the R7000 can deliver more of the megabits supplied by Spectrum to most of our wireless devices, its range still does not reach the far edges of our home as we hoped it would… so the extender could not be retired and the signal in the master bedroom is still barely adequate.

I was replacing my old Netgear router due to my printer dropping out and my newer computers having trouble connecting and only a reboot would fix. Also with the newer computers i wanted to take advantage of the higher mips. I wanted the change to be seamless and it was. I simply shut down the old router, used the same wifi name and password and even the -5G network was created. Using my phone made it fast and easy to setup the router and everything reconnected without issue. So far no dropouts or connect issues.

We’ve had the router for about a week now and it’s so far worked great. The only issue we’ve had is with the Nighthawk app – it doesn’t always register the router or connect to it so we have to close it out and relaunch it several times.
