The R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Router from Netgear uses a dual core 1GHz processor and AC1900 Wi-Fi technology to deliver speed and performance that’s perfect for gaming and streaming HD video. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless frequencies, providing up to 1900 Mbps (600 on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 on the 5.0 GHz band) data transfer rates.
The Nighthawk router utilizes Beamforming+ technology, meaning that unlike omnidirectional Wi-Fi which fans the signal out within a range, it communicates directly with devices such as tablets or smartphones, and beams a signal specifically to the device. This reduces interference, and provides stronger, faster, and more reliable connections. Mobile Wi-Fi speeds are much faster than previous technology thanks to the router’s high-powered amplifiers and antennas.
The R7000 Nighthawk router also supports both Google Voice assistant and Amazon’s Alexa for added functionality.

I bought this router to go with MB8611 modem, As I had the fastest internet from Comcast’s. My expectations we’re high, but the speed was not dramatically better, just average improvement. I normally install all devices, but this one needed to be set-up with customer support as it was inconsistently working. Sometimes I’m connected to the internet and the neat-gear app shows “connect to router”. Long story it is average device and inconsistent. Hoping it gets better over time.

The router setup was a breeze, and I really wanted it to work, however from about 1 hour use to 72 hours of use, I had to restart the router due to it dropping connection at least 5 times; due to this, I returned it and went with a Linksys router, that hasn’t required 1 single restart in 4 days.

R7000 is listed in numerous articles and sales areas as a dsl modem/router. It is not it is only a router. Netgear does not currently make a dsl modem unless you can find a used D7000 on the market.
