The R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Router from Netgear uses a dual core 1GHz processor and AC1900 Wi-Fi technology to deliver speed and performance that’s perfect for gaming and streaming HD video. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless frequencies, providing up to 1900 Mbps (600 on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 on the 5.0 GHz band) data transfer rates.
The Nighthawk router utilizes Beamforming+ technology, meaning that unlike omnidirectional Wi-Fi which fans the signal out within a range, it communicates directly with devices such as tablets or smartphones, and beams a signal specifically to the device. This reduces interference, and provides stronger, faster, and more reliable connections. Mobile Wi-Fi speeds are much faster than previous technology thanks to the router’s high-powered amplifiers and antennas.
The R7000 Nighthawk router also supports both Google Voice assistant and Amazon’s Alexa for added functionality.

It was very easy to setup and start using, especially with the app. But when I needed to setup more advanced features (port forwarding, DNS, VPN, static IP, etc.) Those features were also available. I get full bandwidth throughout my house on the WiFi. All in all, this is an excellent machine.

Using the app I was able to get up and running in a timely fashion and am experiencing outstanding results. The speed and distance coverage is better than I expected. Router worked very well for the first two weeks. Setup with a mobile phone was challenging as the setup procedure was slow to start, which left me wondering if it was working at all. Two weeks after setting up the router the power supply failed.

Very speedy, however once a day I need to manually reset the router as all of my devices at some point in the day are unable to connect. This has happened every day I’ve owned the router. As I work remotely, this has caused me to miss one meeting altogether and was late to another while troubleshooting. Google searches show this as common. This has already required more resetting and patience than 3 years of my ISPs router. The trade off is I have more range and speed at the cost of instability.
