The R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Router from Netgear uses a dual core 1GHz processor and AC1900 Wi-Fi technology to deliver speed and performance that’s perfect for gaming and streaming HD video. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless frequencies, providing up to 1900 Mbps (600 on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 on the 5.0 GHz band) data transfer rates.
The Nighthawk router utilizes Beamforming+ technology, meaning that unlike omnidirectional Wi-Fi which fans the signal out within a range, it communicates directly with devices such as tablets or smartphones, and beams a signal specifically to the device. This reduces interference, and provides stronger, faster, and more reliable connections. Mobile Wi-Fi speeds are much faster than previous technology thanks to the router’s high-powered amplifiers and antennas.
The R7000 Nighthawk router also supports both Google Voice assistant and Amazon’s Alexa for added functionality.

For a college student you need something that’s easy to understand and simple to set up; and that’s exactly what NETGEAR’s Nighthawk router gives you. In less than 10 minutes our apartment’s wifi was running perfectly and it tucked perfectly away in the kitchen! The connected app is a whole other plus – I can reboot the router from anywhere if the wifi crashes or there’s an issue, and even monitor the network status and speed all from my phone. I would recommend this to all my friends and family!

Recently moved to a rural area where the fastest internet service we can get is 50 mbps DSL. With the ISP supplied modem/router combo the wifi signal was not reaching across the house. Netgear router extended our signal and we can use wifi throughout the house and backyard which is great for using wifi calling as we get no cell service out here in the woods!
