The R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Router from Netgear uses a dual core 1GHz processor and AC1900 Wi-Fi technology to deliver speed and performance that’s perfect for gaming and streaming HD video. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless frequencies, providing up to 1900 Mbps (600 on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 on the 5.0 GHz band) data transfer rates.
The Nighthawk router utilizes Beamforming+ technology, meaning that unlike omnidirectional Wi-Fi which fans the signal out within a range, it communicates directly with devices such as tablets or smartphones, and beams a signal specifically to the device. This reduces interference, and provides stronger, faster, and more reliable connections. Mobile Wi-Fi speeds are much faster than previous technology thanks to the router’s high-powered amplifiers and antennas.
The R7000 Nighthawk router also supports both Google Voice assistant and Amazon’s Alexa for added functionality.

This was purchased as a replacement primarily for the wi-fi. The gateway I was using had a failing wi-for unit. I set up via a pc connection. Set up took less than 30 minutes. The nighthawk software made the set up a breeze. After reading about difficult initial setup this was a nice surprise. Though I agree if I had to manually setup the router the lack of documentation would of made it difficult. I almost did not notice the little sticker on the plastic that surrounded the router listed the router initial password. The router it self has performed above expectations. It almost seems like the internet is speedier than before. With a little bit more documentation in the packaging I would have given this router 5 stars.

It has not functioned very well for the 2 weeks I have been using it. Constantly drops the internet on a daily basis sometimes multiple times a day. I have to keep power cycling or rebooting it. Have not been able to get my extenders to connect with it.

I had an older Nighthawk Router that just didn’t have the technology to keep up with all the “new” WiFi devices my home contains now vice 7 years ago when I bought it. The new version I purchased was 1/2 the cost of older version AND so much easier to Set Up than the older version!!! I, who scrape by with a tiny bit of IT knowledge got this set up and all devices connected in less than 45 minutes!!!
