The R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Router from Netgear uses a dual core 1GHz processor and AC1900 Wi-Fi technology to deliver speed and performance that’s perfect for gaming and streaming HD video. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless frequencies, providing up to 1900 Mbps (600 on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 on the 5.0 GHz band) data transfer rates.
The Nighthawk router utilizes Beamforming+ technology, meaning that unlike omnidirectional Wi-Fi which fans the signal out within a range, it communicates directly with devices such as tablets or smartphones, and beams a signal specifically to the device. This reduces interference, and provides stronger, faster, and more reliable connections. Mobile Wi-Fi speeds are much faster than previous technology thanks to the router’s high-powered amplifiers and antennas.
The R7000 Nighthawk router also supports both Google Voice assistant and Amazon’s Alexa for added functionality.

I bought this router about 2-3 weeks ago. It is not reliable at all. It works for about every 40min and no internet at all. I have to reboot it many times to get internet back. Finally I gave up and get back to my old router. I will have to return this.

I bought this router about 4 years ago when I wanted to upgrade my equipment to get better whole-house coverage. While I haven’t achieved perfectly reliable whole-house coverage, my AC1900 router has gotten me the closest I’ve been. Out of the box, the device simply works. The setup is easy, and the built-in features are all you need to deliver secure and fast Wi-Fi to your home. Your mileage may vary if you have a particularly large house, in which case you would probably benefit from a repeater (or an even higher-end router). Regardless, for the price, this device is excellent for most people. My only quibble would be that the QOS feature doesn’t seem to work all that well: we seem to lose connection frequently when it’s turned on, and our WiFi speeds seem to be slower in general. Otherwise, we’re really happy with the setup.
