The R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Router from Netgear uses a dual core 1GHz processor and AC1900 Wi-Fi technology to deliver speed and performance that’s perfect for gaming and streaming HD video. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless frequencies, providing up to 1900 Mbps (600 on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 on the 5.0 GHz band) data transfer rates.
The Nighthawk router utilizes Beamforming+ technology, meaning that unlike omnidirectional Wi-Fi which fans the signal out within a range, it communicates directly with devices such as tablets or smartphones, and beams a signal specifically to the device. This reduces interference, and provides stronger, faster, and more reliable connections. Mobile Wi-Fi speeds are much faster than previous technology thanks to the router’s high-powered amplifiers and antennas.
The R7000 Nighthawk router also supports both Google Voice assistant and Amazon’s Alexa for added functionality.

I recently switched to Google Webpass, and bought this as one of the recommended routers. Unfortunately, it keeps randomly dropping the internet even after updating the firmware. The technician who helped install Webpass says this has apparently been an issue w/ this specific model.

Telephone repair man that came out to work on internet problem of being too slow said he could do nothing to improve speed, I had too many items that were hooked to wifi. I had the max 12 gig of download that my rural area could get and when it got to my laptop it was just 6 gig…talk about slow. He suggested a Netgear AC9000 could resolve some of the issues. I was reluctant to spend the money, but after thinking no other choice I bought the router. Waalaa, what a pleasant surprise when a product does what it is advertised to do. My laptop speed has increased 50%, tolerable, and I get to keep all my cameras and other gadgets that i have hooked to wifi…good job Netgear!

So how do i start with this review, one thing i can say for sure is that it’s literally so easy to check how many people you have in your router with the Nighthawk app like you wouldn’t imagine how many times I’ve had to check what my kids do with the wifi and how easy it is to maneuver! My wife gets 250 mbps (connected directly to the signal via cable) I get 30 mbps from the router – using wifi. My computer is about 10 feet from the router. I upgraded the firmware (it was out of date) but still only get 30 mbps. My computer was OLD and could not see a 5G signal from the router. I am purchasing a new computer and hope I can connect to 5G and have MUCH faster signal.
