The R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Router from Netgear uses a dual core 1GHz processor and AC1900 Wi-Fi technology to deliver speed and performance that’s perfect for gaming and streaming HD video. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless frequencies, providing up to 1900 Mbps (600 on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 on the 5.0 GHz band) data transfer rates.
The Nighthawk router utilizes Beamforming+ technology, meaning that unlike omnidirectional Wi-Fi which fans the signal out within a range, it communicates directly with devices such as tablets or smartphones, and beams a signal specifically to the device. This reduces interference, and provides stronger, faster, and more reliable connections. Mobile Wi-Fi speeds are much faster than previous technology thanks to the router’s high-powered amplifiers and antennas.
The R7000 Nighthawk router also supports both Google Voice assistant and Amazon’s Alexa for added functionality.

The speed is great compared to my last router but after about a week, it drops connection at least twice a day. The only way to get it back is to reboot it. I am trying to work with support to see if the issue can be resolved. I would not buy this again.

I have had this for about 8 years. I have a 3 story house at about 4500 sqft. This works great in 5g all over the house. I have two rooms that are topping out at about 30 mbps, but the rest are all over 100. (We pay for 200). It is placed in the middle floor, and above it and below are well over 100. We tried the eero system to try to get those two rooms higher, and it actually lowered more rooms then it raised. We used the 3 beacon system. We went back to the nighthawk and it is much faster.

When I first got this router at home and set it up I was having connectivity issues with it dropping multiple times a day. Last night I was able to get in contact with customer support and they help me set it up. This is why I give it four stars is that it is not initially set up. Time will tell if their DNS fix will work. But if it does and it was set up already I would give it 5 stars.
