The R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Router from Netgear uses a dual core 1GHz processor and AC1900 Wi-Fi technology to deliver speed and performance that’s perfect for gaming and streaming HD video. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless frequencies, providing up to 1900 Mbps (600 on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 on the 5.0 GHz band) data transfer rates.
The Nighthawk router utilizes Beamforming+ technology, meaning that unlike omnidirectional Wi-Fi which fans the signal out within a range, it communicates directly with devices such as tablets or smartphones, and beams a signal specifically to the device. This reduces interference, and provides stronger, faster, and more reliable connections. Mobile Wi-Fi speeds are much faster than previous technology thanks to the router’s high-powered amplifiers and antennas.
The R7000 Nighthawk router also supports both Google Voice assistant and Amazon’s Alexa for added functionality.

The first day we started using this wifi router the highest was 301 mbps. Our electronics kept on disconnecting the first 2 days. Now it’s is consistently at 280mbps. I’m still trying to give it chance hopefully it improves.

Setup was a snap, although the routine got ahead of me for a bit, prompting me for an admin. login I had yet to set up. But that was easily resolved. Range of my previous router even in my small condo was limited, and this Nighthawk is a welcome improvement. It is well-suited for my situation. Recommended for smaller spaces, such as lower square footage or single-floor layouts like mine.

My main concern about purchasing a WiFi router was range. I live in a 1600 sf ranch and wanted something that could reach everywhere in the home including the basement. I tried to put the router as close to the center of my home as possible. I tested the download and upload speeds in every corner of the home and was getting a strong signal strength at all locations. I even went outside and the end of my drive way (30ft long) and still got signal. I currently have 400 mbps download and at the farthest point of my home between two walls it dropped to 150 mbps. Now I wasn’t concerned about that location since it was only used for streaming. Overall very happy with my purchase of the Nighthawk AC1900
