The R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Router from Netgear uses a dual core 1GHz processor and AC1900 Wi-Fi technology to deliver speed and performance that’s perfect for gaming and streaming HD video. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless frequencies, providing up to 1900 Mbps (600 on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 on the 5.0 GHz band) data transfer rates.
The Nighthawk router utilizes Beamforming+ technology, meaning that unlike omnidirectional Wi-Fi which fans the signal out within a range, it communicates directly with devices such as tablets or smartphones, and beams a signal specifically to the device. This reduces interference, and provides stronger, faster, and more reliable connections. Mobile Wi-Fi speeds are much faster than previous technology thanks to the router’s high-powered amplifiers and antennas.
The R7000 Nighthawk router also supports both Google Voice assistant and Amazon’s Alexa for added functionality.

My router arrived very quickly. I knew it should be an easy install, but I was incredibly wrong. No matter what I did it still would not work. I gave up and called tech support. The woman was so rude that I almost hung up, but I needed her help. Once it was working I was very pleased with the speed. The only issue was that it needed to be rebooted 2 to 3 times a day every day to regain any connection. I gave up and decided to buy a different brand. While reading reviews a guy that said he did a factory reset and reinstalled his router and it worked. So, I tried it too. Now it works nicely except puts itself to “sleep” requiring me to prompt it through the app. Overall, the install was not easy and it’s frustrating to wake it constantly. I personally think there are better and easier routers available. If mine continues to “sleep” it’s getting returned.

Set up was super easy and it’s worked great. Not sure if it’s the router or my internet provider but it does need to be reset occasionally cause we lose signal. But other than that it’s been awesome.

Solid performance, provides good coverage, and works seamlessly with a Nighthawk extender. But, I took away one star because the app is irritating to work with. Reverted to browser interface to do the set-up.
