With wireless data transfer rates of up to 2300 Mbps, the R7000P Nighthawk AC2300 Dual-Band Gigabit Router from NETGEAR is designed to offer the wireless bandwidth needed to stream multimedia content, download large files, and more all at the same time. The Nighthawk AC2300 also supports MU-MIMO technology providing multiple, separate data paths giving wireless users a dedicated connection to the network. Once configured, the R7000P supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi network standards and operates on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. If a wired connection is needed the Nighthawk also features four Gigabit LAN ports as well as a single USB 3.0 port and a single USB 2.0 port to connect compatible USB peripherals directly to the network.
The R7000P Nighthawk isn’t your ordinary router and it comes equipped with a variety of features designed to enhance your network including Dynamic QoS, Smart Connect technology, a variety of network sharing apps, configuration utilities, and security applications to ensure you get the most out of your Nighthawk R7000P. With Dynamic QoS the Nighthawk is able to prioritize network traffic to ensure bandwidth heavy tasks such as streaming video, gaming, and other data hogging applications operate smoothly. Additionally, Smart Connect technology is designed to ensure every device is connected to the fastest available Wi-Fi Band.

This router worked well when first bought but a couple firmware updates ago the router now drops the 5GHz band for around a minute randomly. If you search on-line this is a wide-spread problem with this particular router. It makes remote learning and working from home near impossible when connected to the 5GHz band. Factory resets have been completed as well with no changes. Netgear says they don’t know about this issue (even though it is all over their own forums). Unless they address this with a firmware update soon I would stay far away from this product as there is device cannot operate on anything but the 2.4GHz band and be stable.

You can get as hands-on with the specific settings or just let it take care of the heavy lifting on its own.
