With wireless data transfer rates of up to 2300 Mbps, the R7000P Nighthawk AC2300 Dual-Band Gigabit Router from NETGEAR is designed to offer the wireless bandwidth needed to stream multimedia content, download large files, and more all at the same time. The Nighthawk AC2300 also supports MU-MIMO technology providing multiple, separate data paths giving wireless users a dedicated connection to the network. Once configured, the R7000P supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi network standards and operates on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. If a wired connection is needed the Nighthawk also features four Gigabit LAN ports as well as a single USB 3.0 port and a single USB 2.0 port to connect compatible USB peripherals directly to the network.
The R7000P Nighthawk isn’t your ordinary router and it comes equipped with a variety of features designed to enhance your network including Dynamic QoS, Smart Connect technology, a variety of network sharing apps, configuration utilities, and security applications to ensure you get the most out of your Nighthawk R7000P. With Dynamic QoS the Nighthawk is able to prioritize network traffic to ensure bandwidth heavy tasks such as streaming video, gaming, and other data hogging applications operate smoothly. Additionally, Smart Connect technology is designed to ensure every device is connected to the fastest available Wi-Fi Band.

Haven’t had the router very long, but from what we’ve used, the Nighthawk is so much fast than our previous router. Still learning all the extras like the parental controls, which is one of the big reasons I purchased it.

I bought this-at first it would fail to download the firmware upgrades however now, several months in the 5ghz band works at about 85-100mbps but the 2.4ghz band is at 1.5mbps. I called customer service and they will check the firmware but customer support is only valid for 90 days and then you have to pay. If they won’t stand behind their product, neither will I – last Netgear item I will ever buy.

I’ve used NETGEAR routers for a while. My last NETGEAR, before I purchased this one, I had for over 6 years and there was not a thing wrong with it, the internet and my requirements simply outgrew the device. This router is solid enough to keep up with the demand of 15+ streaming decives placed on the appropriate band. The best feature for me is the use of the nighthawk app that lets me control the devices at will and provide some parental controls and oversight on what my kids are doing and watching, or I can just cut them off when they get the thousand yard stare. Extremely pleased with this router, must buy!
