With tri-band functionality, the R8000P Nighthawk X6S AC4000 Wireless Tri-Band Gigabit Router from NETGEAR is capable of supporting connected clients on the single 2.4 GHz frequency or either of the two 5 GHz frequencies. The single 2.4 GHz frequency supports data transfer rates of up to 750 Mbps while the 5 GHz frequencies support data transfer rates of up to 1.625 Gbps to handle bandwidth-intensive tasks such as streaming multimedia content, online gaming, downloading large files, and more. The Nighthawk X6S also supports the 802.11ac Wi-Fi network standard with a total Wi-Fi bandwidth of up to 4000 Mbps. If a wired connection is needed, users can connect Ethernet-enabled devices to any of the four Gigabit Ethernet ports for a reliable wired network connection.
The Nighthawk X6S features MU-MIMO, or Multiple User-Multiple Input, Multiple Output technology, making it easy to connect multiple devices to the router, each with its own dedicated pathway to the network. In addition to MU-MIMO technology, the Nighthawk X6S also supports cloud storage functionality. Simply connect a compatible USB hard drive to the router’s USB port and access your files using the ReadyCLOUD mobile app or web portal. Managing your network has also been simplified thanks to the NETGEAR genie App which offers a variety of management tools as well as the ability to remotely manage your network when you’re away.

I have a 3br 2bt house with thick/heavy insulated walls and the signal strength is super strong and never drops. Definitely worth the upgrade.

I recently moved and bought this router to have a wider coverage for the bigger house. I get a good signal on 5g across the whole house. It also does well supporting gigabit internet on wireless.

Great coverage of Wi-Fi but had issue with firmware update through the app. Had to update through the computer not an issue but not as convenient.

This tri-band router is fast, and efficient. It can handle a demanding workload. It’s very configurable and reasonably priced. However, many of the features that Netgear tauts and advertises require paid subscriptions: Inc. VPN, firewall, and parental controls. So to get was stated on the box you have to pay more than the price on the box. For those who are seeking are for those features, ASUS is a better alternative. Shame on Netgear.

This router is amazing not only was it easy to set up but the results are amazing hardly any lag with myself playing games and family streaming on multiple devices. The set up was virtually plug in play. The app is well designed and easy to use as well. Love this router

FTP only one account is allowed? Took my devices a few tries to connect the first attempt seems to fail the second time seems to work. Had a few wifi dropouts but disabled qos and seems to work better – the firmware is buggy and for the sticker price makes me not like netgear on the management level – let the QA team hammer on the firmware some more maybe – idk should have gone with a different brand my 60 router never had problems like this – the FTP option is just dumb why not add more users?!?

I recently upgraded my wifi from a Medialink router to the Netgear. I began to notice a definite drop in my internet speed. When I should be getting 200mbps I was only getting about 30mbps. I had the cable techs come and check my lines and they said everything was good to go. Having that information led me to believe it was my wifi. I ordered my Netgear that day and it arrived 2 days later. After setting it up and downloading the app, I checked my speed. I was now getting 230mbps and the coverage in my 5,000 sqft home was way beyond expectations. This wifi router sits in my basement office and can hit without loss of strength to my top floor. I would encourage everyone to consider the Netgear Nighthawk AC4000 as an upgrade or new router.
