With the Nighthawk AX6 AX5400, you’ll have the wireless bandwidth you need to stream 4K video, video chat, and play online games. The router also includes five Gigabit Ethernet ports, four of which connect to computers, gaming consoles, and other compatible devices. Connect an external storage drive to the available USB 3.0 Type-A port to back up and share data locally across your network. The Nighthawk AX6 AX5400 sets up quickly through the Nighthawk mobile app, and you can issue voice commands to the router through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Your network is secured with both wireless encryption and the Netgear Armor multi-layered cybersecurity system, which protects devices against viruses, malware, and other online threats.

The installation process wasn’t as easy as the manual states where you just download the app and follow the prompts. I had to bypass the app and log into the router via the computer browser and go from there. Just a heads up… For those of you who have older PCs and you’re SSID isn’t showing as an available network but others are, it’s because this new Nighthawk you purchased is too advanced for your PCs network adapter; it’s outdated.

I’m mostly satisified with this router, it’s more than capable of delivering high speeds, but it seems like the range isn’t that much greater than my old NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 R8000 from 2014, which was unfortunate considering the year gap between models.

The router works fine and I am able to connect with 5G throughout my home. I had problems with the Nighthawk App needing a QR code. My RAX50 didn’t have one and the app didn’t allow me to manually enter the information. A request to Netgear did not produce a QR code from them either. Why they cannot they provide a simple QR for their products when it is required by their App; I don’t know.

Router installation was easy using the Highthawk app. However one of our devices (a Dell PC) was not compatible with the AX architecture. AX had to be turned off through the router software in order for the one PC to find the network. Disappointing!
