Capable of throughput up to 6,000 Mb/s, the Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 Wi-Fi Router from Netgear supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), a wireless standard that allows for faster Wi-Fi speeds, more simultaneous upload and download streams, and greater energy efficiency for battery-powered wireless clients than previous Wi-Fi standards.
Equipped with four internal antennas, five 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet LAN port, one 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet WAN port, and a pair of USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, the Wi-Fi 6-enabled Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 supports OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access) and multi-user MIMO (Multiple Input and Multiple Output) to deliver faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connections compared to Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). The router also boasts a Smart Connect feature that selects the best Wi-Fi band for your devices, allowing for a single network name for both wireless bands, as well as voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

First of all. Jumping from 3.0 to 3.1 is a great speed jump. But it’s supposed to have a 3000 ft range. I have less bars in corners of my house then my previous net gear cable modem router. The other thing. Is it seems to cause conflict with my smart home and ring surveillance system. Lots of devices lose connection more then ever. I disabled the default security. And it seems to work better. The bitdefender add on for your phone. Makes internet useless. I would have a hard time endorsing this expensive combo router

Had a great deal of trouble establishing a connection because I made the mistake of using WPS with it when the Cable Modem/Router/Wifi CAX80 was setup as WPA-X. It just wouldn’t work until I did a factory reset which I found instructions for in a KnowledgeBase article. Once I did that, setup was smooth albeit slow. Be patient with the Nighthawk app. It will work fine but wait for solid feedback that each step is complete before hitting Next!

Set up was easy once i turned off automatic DNS on my Iphone. Seems to work quite a bit better than the last one which was a fairly expensive amped? ampex:? the old one was a few years old.

I have an XR 1000 upstairs. Needed a little more range downstairs where all my streaming devices are. Works perfect especially if you have it plugged in directly to your streaming devices through the ethernet wires. The only problem I have is still doesn’t reach one of my ring cameras in front of my garage the range isn’t that good.

Overall, this is the best router-modem combo for the money. You have a cable and LAN connections, so you have lots of options in case you change internet providers. The app is great and easy to monitor yourspeed, usage, and potential security threats. The range is excellent on the 2.4ghz mode and the speed is very fast on the 5ghz mode. This is the set up to buy if you want to stop paying your internet company for their rental.
