Capable of throughput up to 6,000 Mb/s, the Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 Wi-Fi Router from Netgear supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), a wireless standard that allows for faster Wi-Fi speeds, more simultaneous upload and download streams, and greater energy efficiency for battery-powered wireless clients than previous Wi-Fi standards.
Equipped with four internal antennas, five 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet LAN port, one 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet WAN port, and a pair of USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, the Wi-Fi 6-enabled Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 supports OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access) and multi-user MIMO (Multiple Input and Multiple Output) to deliver faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connections compared to Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). The router also boasts a Smart Connect feature that selects the best Wi-Fi band for your devices, allowing for a single network name for both wireless bands, as well as voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

I bought one without knowing that an extender actually cuts the wifi speed in half. My house probably needs the full powered mesh replacement. I like my Nighthawk router and am not sure it should be replaced. Not a fan of the Nighthawk extender.

Purchased to upgrade the Nighthawk AC1900 to Wifi 6 and there is no disappointment! Still get the speed I was used to with the AC1900, yet my Wifi 6 devices get an extra boost. Best of all the CAX80 will pay for itself in 3 years since I am not renting a modem from the cable company.

This modem has been trouble free and setup was much easier than expected. I used to use a Erros mesh system with Austound Internet and that was a reliable and simple system, in the switch to wifi 6 I found that cost of Erros to be cost prohibitive and the specs for the Nighthawk caught my eye and it was a great switch. Super fast, easy to use, and just as reliable as Erros
