Capable of throughput up to 6,000 Mb/s, the Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 Wi-Fi Router from Netgear supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), a wireless standard that allows for faster Wi-Fi speeds, more simultaneous upload and download streams, and greater energy efficiency for battery-powered wireless clients than previous Wi-Fi standards.
Equipped with four internal antennas, five 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet LAN port, one 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet WAN port, and a pair of USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, the Wi-Fi 6-enabled Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 supports OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access) and multi-user MIMO (Multiple Input and Multiple Output) to deliver faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connections compared to Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). The router also boasts a Smart Connect feature that selects the best Wi-Fi band for your devices, allowing for a single network name for both wireless bands, as well as voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Unit is ok only software is the problem and has been less than stellar ,I think not enough testing before release,I locked myself out once and took me hrs to reset so I could roll back the software ,I want a unit that will protect my home out of the box but I find having to be able to retrieve password from netgear left wondering if they can access the router and if so that is a security problem

So far, this router is working well. It had some issues with connecting to Xfinity, that had to be resolved with a service call. Additionally, I seem to be having problems with one of my TVs, but it’s entirely possible that it’s related to a recent software update – they always break things that were working fine, when they do one. Its biggest drawback is the absence of controls for the connecting devices; ie, parental controls. It wish it would, at least, allow you to set a shut off time for a particular device. If it exists, I haven’t found it, yet.

I like the Netgear CAX80 router I recently purchased. Love how I can see what devices are connected on the Nighthawk phone app and how it scans devices and network for any threats. I can also reboot, check internet speed and more on the app. I gave it 4 stars as I had trouble during the setup trying to connect to my laptop. I was able to connect my printers with no issues, but the laptop was a problem for me. May have been me, but I was able to get it connected after approx 45-50 minutes. This router was recommended by my son.

We tried to install this following the directions in the Nighthawk app, which required going to the Xfinity app. That didn’t work. What did work was calling Xfinity and having them activate it, and then finishing the setup in the app. That being said, the modem works great. I’m finding that it actually gives me those super fast downloads with my data plan that the Xfinity modem wouldn’t give.
