Capable of throughput up to 6,000 Mb/s, the Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 Wi-Fi Router from Netgear supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), a wireless standard that allows for faster Wi-Fi speeds, more simultaneous upload and download streams, and greater energy efficiency for battery-powered wireless clients than previous Wi-Fi standards.
Equipped with four internal antennas, five 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet LAN port, one 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet WAN port, and a pair of USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, the Wi-Fi 6-enabled Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 supports OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access) and multi-user MIMO (Multiple Input and Multiple Output) to deliver faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connections compared to Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). The router also boasts a Smart Connect feature that selects the best Wi-Fi band for your devices, allowing for a single network name for both wireless bands, as well as voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

We had the Netgear Nighthawk C7000 for a few years and was a fantastic modem/router combo. When we started getting more smart home devices, the bandwidth was too much for the C7000 to handle. Not to mention, we upgraded to the 900mbps service with XFinity which the C7000 could only go up to 600mbps. So, we switched to the CAX80 and couldn’t be happier. It is easy to set up…if you are tech savvy. It might be a little more challenging for someone whom isn’t tech savvy. Though, if you have a smart home or require the amount of bandwidth that this baby can provide, then you should possess the knowledge and skill to get this set up…or at least know someone who does.

Man, all it took was about 1 minute to set up with the mywifi.net URL. Didn’t even try the other two methods. Super fast with great range!

Okay so, the cax80 gives fantastic speeds and range, however, not all of the time. Sometimes it cuts out, not allowing wan or lan connectivity. If there was a firmware update available to fix this, I would gladly give a 5 star. Overall a great modem router but the firmware needs some serious work.

Running Xfinity 1200gbps Internet, I ran 6 speed tests(2 from each site) using the Xfinity XB7, XB8, and then the CAX80. Testing showed that CAX80 pulled ahead of xfinity’s new XB8 by about 150-200mbps. If there is a downside though, the XB8 seemed to hold connections better when many devices are running simultaneously (3 HD TV’s 2 Xbox’s Gaming Computer 10 Alexa devices 7 iPhones). I would still say go with the Nighthawk because there are so many variables that may affect that stability between the modem/router combo.

It’s a great device. I combined the CAX80 with the mesh system. The drops sometimes but it’s overall a good device.

Haven’t had issues with it beside the first day but that was more caused by my internet company. It’s been working great ever since and I got the 6gb one so I won’t have to upgrade for a while. Works great with having a few people over we can stream and play games together with no lag or loading issues for having too many people on.

Was having an issue where the router would stop allowing wireless clients to connect, and would no longer allow IP login for management. restarting would fix it temporarily. I recently updated the firmware and waiting to see if it fixed the problem. One thing I would suggest it figuring out how to extend warranties in some cases. I purchased a refurbished unit and the replacement/hardware repair period is 90 days. this is a reasonable amount of time normally, but because of chip shortages and supply chain issues, we have started ordering gear we need months and months before we actually need to install it. we checked the units when they arrived, but did not implement them in to a system until 3 months after we got them and the rest of the parts of the system arrived. So we really didnt have any time to test it as part of the full system until after the warranty ended. I understand this would be difficult to determine, but it is a problem i see happening a lot. Cheers

Setting this up was a breeze. Just need your MAC address handy so that your ISP can get you up and running.

I recently bought this router 3 weeks ago as an upgrade from my 10 year old router. It works great in my small home. The signal reaches every device in my house. The connection is much more stable and faster than before.
