Capable of throughput up to 6,000 Mb/s, the Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 Wi-Fi Router from Netgear supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), a wireless standard that allows for faster Wi-Fi speeds, more simultaneous upload and download streams, and greater energy efficiency for battery-powered wireless clients than previous Wi-Fi standards.
Equipped with four internal antennas, five 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet LAN port, one 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet WAN port, and a pair of USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, the Wi-Fi 6-enabled Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 supports OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access) and multi-user MIMO (Multiple Input and Multiple Output) to deliver faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connections compared to Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). The router also boasts a Smart Connect feature that selects the best Wi-Fi band for your devices, allowing for a single network name for both wireless bands, as well as voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

HUGE upgrade. This router is awesome, the netgear nighthawk app is great too. Router gives me so much coverage no dead spots anywhere in my house, 2 story cape cod. Router in the basement. Wifi 6 s super fast, no lagging whatsoever. Great router so glad I chose this to upgrade to!

This was a great upgrade from my computer old R8000 ac router. I have noticed less lag with multiple devices streaming over WiFi with my existing ac devices with qos is enabled.

The router itself works pretty well once setup. The setup was kind of difficult. The Nighthawk app didn’t work as seamless as it should have. Had to resort to setting up the router via Microsoft Edge. The 2.4 Ghz band didn’t play well with my Amazon Echo Dots until I set the 2.4 Ghz band to only run at 54 Mbits. Would be nice to figure out that issue. All of my Amazon Firesticks work fine however and this router solved a lot of the streaming issues that I was having with an older Netgear product.

I have always had Netgear routers and extenders. When AX debuted, I figured I would take advantage of it, for future proofing with new devices. The range and speeds on this thing is incredible. So good that extenders were no longer needed. Recently had issues with my PC that is located on the same desk as the router, suddenly losing connection. It’s not common, so no big deal. 1 star rating because of the WAN disconnect that occurs daily, sometimes multiple times a day. Each time something happens, you can see a log entry of “Obtained IP address” and a time server sync. I first noticed it because I kept getting booted out of online games on Xbox. I wound up unplugging it from the LAN and just using Wifi. But as a telecommuter with a company supplied VOIP with an ethernet connection to the router, this is unacceptable. I talk to coworkers and customers, and suddenly the call drops. When I look at the LED display on my work phone, it says “No network”. About 5 seconds later, it is connected again. Immediately check the routing log and there is the same message about IP address obtained. I have been posting with others in Netgear forums for months now, it is not an isolated incident, and the only fix is to replace the router (not the same one, obviously). This kills me considering how much I had spent on this. So if you need LAN (wired) devices, avoid this router. 1 star for a product with known issues that has never been fixed, but had to give it 2 stars because the wifi range and speed really is amazing.

The EAX80 extender was easy to install. The instructions were clear and simple. Running with my RAX70, it is completely transparent, and there are no dead spots in my whole house (2500 sq ft).

I had to upgrade from my previous Nighthawk because I upgraded my cable service and needed a multi gigabit speed modem. It was as easy to set up as my previous one and I still had the usb port for my network drive. Love it!

We use ARMOR and wired throughput is excellent with the 2.2ghz core processor; wireless, even at 25% power setting, easily powers devices through one interior wall containing steel studs, and full power easily covers 2900 sq feet. Armor works well with 5 computers + 14 devices – streaming video quality is also sharper. Packet loss is below threshold, and we consistently receive reduced latency and improved download and upload times.
