Capable of throughput up to 6,000 Mb/s, the Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 Wi-Fi Router from Netgear supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), a wireless standard that allows for faster Wi-Fi speeds, more simultaneous upload and download streams, and greater energy efficiency for battery-powered wireless clients than previous Wi-Fi standards.
Equipped with four internal antennas, five 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet LAN port, one 10/100/1000 Mb/s Ethernet WAN port, and a pair of USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, the Wi-Fi 6-enabled Nighthawk AX8 AX6000 supports OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access) and multi-user MIMO (Multiple Input and Multiple Output) to deliver faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connections compared to Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac). The router also boasts a Smart Connect feature that selects the best Wi-Fi band for your devices, allowing for a single network name for both wireless bands, as well as voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

These units have lots of known issues with reliability, especially at 5GHZ. Main issue is intermittent connectivity drops. Just check NetGear’s own support forum and you will see what I mean. I’m sad I bought it and would not recommend. Try a different device – my old Netgear AX1900 was really good.

i like the nighthawk, except for the power cord. I still have not gotten the right cord as the 2 i have both are loose in the router and causes the power to reset to often.

I had a NETGEAR before but needed to upgrade. This one was a little more difficult to set up than the last one. Didn’t really like having to set it up using the app and Xfinity. Wish it was like my old one where you just hooked it up and let Xfinity know so they could reboot, etc and it was done. Oh well, I guess that’s the cost of improvements.

OK, I’m a slow learner. I bought an EXA80 range extender and it worked great for 6 weeks and then died. So I figured maybe I just got a lemon so I returned it and bought a second one. Same deal, it died in 8 weeks!

Replaced my Verizon Fios router with the Nighthawk AX12 and wow!!! What a difference! We have a large home, 8500 sq. ft., and it reaches all points of my home with no problems. Finally getting all the speed I actually pay for. Pulling 900 mgps easily and ping rate around 2!!!!! Pricey but worth the extra bucks.
